well everyone got his tastes...
For ME, Starcraft don't have the dawn of war's factions variaty or coh's polished game mechanics. Anyway for a game made a decade ago it was really nice.. For the nowdays's standards.. it has nothing new to add..
but i'll stop before being burned by tEh hardc0r3 SC fans..

ps: there are still 100 times more people playing sc games on bnet, than people playing coh and dow COMBINED rofl ... that should tell you something ... and no, i don't think its a "they can't afford a better pc" issue either ...

Your point? And where did you get your 90% from? I imagine came up on the spot just like most online statistics.

SC was one of the reasons the Koreans started playing games competitively, like sports, on a massive scale. To a point where they have TV shows based on the game, and no other RTS has achieve anything similar in any other country.

On-topic:
The new video introducing the Zerg officially looks awesome. Too bad it doesn't have the all-famous Blizzard CGI sequences in it, but i can live with that. Starcraft was and still is a good game, and i really like the look of this sequel.

well if you say you don't like it then that's fine, but saying that company of heroes has better game mechanics is just plain wrong.
there's a reason why starcraft is the ultimate esport rts that it is.
I'd also say that the 3 starcraft factions all play totally different. To be honest I can't think of a game where the factions are more different.
anyway.. I suck at starcraft, never completed it's single player campaign, but I'm still looking forward to this because every blizzard game has a 100% chance to set new standards that other games will try to copy for years to come.

As much as i like DoW, (COH sucked btw, w/e)
Its still worse than sc, even to todays standards. Why? Because in DoW, you just mass your factions best units, and rush the base with em. You dont even need to micro them. Just let them do all the work.
While in SC, with just a few units, you can cripple the enemy so hard, he'll leave the game.

I used to love the story in Starcraft, i seriously like the fact that they have made the storytelling aspect of the game even better.
Here are a few games that belong to my own personal RTS Hall of Fame (in no particular order)
* Dune 2 - the one that started it all, the first RTS i played (i still get a kick out of playing it)
* Command & Conquer - if you weren't into RTS games back in the day you will never understand the wowfactor C&C had, damn what a game.
* Warcraft 2 - Okay i liked the first one but i was hooked on the second one, great game.
* Starcraft - one of those games like Dune 2 that i can still enjoy to this day, amazing story and fun gameplay.
Honorary mention: Total Annihilation, the graphics where jawdropping the first time i saw it but the actual gameplay was less fun to me personally.
