Jesus. That was a creepy and harrowing scene.

I have to agree. Creds to Ubi for that scene. The sound of the legs breaking is horrible, when I played the level a second time I covered my ears.

actually, knights templar was created in England's northern lands.

They may have had soldiers from different country's but originally its an English faction.

Knights Templar were created in France by Hugues de Payens. Altough Englands king, whoever that was at the time, granted them land in England pretty soon after they were formed.

And dont forget the guy who was stabbed in the back - while kneeled - till death and then thrown into the well (and it becomes red ´cause of the blood). That was quite horrifying for me - i don´t remember the guy´s name though. I was quite shocked to see that kind of scenes.

Most of the Crusaders where French or 'Franks' even Richard Lion Heart (Richard Lion de Coeur ) was French. He basically used England as a milk cow to get money for hes wars etc.
Even if the soldiers of the crusades where from many different European countries, they where all called 'Franks' more or less.

Forgot about that one. Quite unpleasant too. Not as much though, it was the sound of the legs more than anything that was the most unpleasant for me.

Assassins Creed is rated "M" which gives it a age limit of 17+ (Mature).
(Only checked the US ESRB rating but the PEGI EU rating is probably similar.)

EDIT: PEGI has given AC a rating of 18+

Wow, if I was 17 this would be such a dilemma right now, to play, and risk brain damage because my young fragile mind wouldn't understand what it sees, or miss out on a great game.

Well I would probably opt for the brain damage.

Incorrect, as evidenced by the further posts in this thread. The Templars are FRENCH.

Quote:
Around 1119, two veterans of the First Crusade, the French knight Hugues de Payens and his relative Godfrey de Saint-Omer, proposed the creation of a monastic order for the protection of the pilgrims.[9] King Baldwin II of Jerusalem agreed to their request, and gave them space for a headquarters on the Temple Mount, in the captured Al Aqsa Mosque. The Temple Mount had a mystique, because it was above what was believed to be the ruins of the Temple of Solomon.[4][10] The Crusaders therefore referred to the Al Aqsa Mosque as Solomon's Temple, and it was from this location that the Order took the name of Poor Knights of Christ and the Temple of Solomon, or "Templar" knights. The Order, with about nine knights, had few financial resources and relied on donations to survive. Their emblem was of two knights riding on a single horse, emphasizing the Order's poverty

Don't even remind me of that. That was just.. scary.

What about the part where two guys were making a deal, and the guy wouldn't take it so then the guy stabs him multiple times in the chest/back and leaves him there to die in front of the citizens there.

left him to die in the fountain, which turned red afterwards.

18+ is the corresponding age limit in the EU for "mature" in the US. Wink

What about my second question?

Richard the Lion Heart was not french, he was born in England, in Beaumont Palace in Oxford.

The reason he is considered french is because he stayed with his mother after the seperation, but if Nationality is decided by Place of birth he's british Wink

It's true though that he used England to fund his crusades and such, but honestly who didnt use their lands/estates and so to fund their wars and crusades

The Knights Templar was founded in Jerusalem by Hugues De Payens and his relative Godfrey de Saint-Omer, they were given their headquarters in Jerusalem, on the Temple Mount, by the King of Jerusalem of the time, Baldwin II (who was french of birth)

The name comes from the fact that their Headquarters were built at the Al Aqsa Mosque, which people at the time believe to be built upon the ruins of the Temple of Solomon.
Thus the name "Poor Knights of Christ and the Temple of Solomon" or Templar Knights

It's also amusing to notice that not only were they founded by french people, given land by a French "king", they were also destroyed by a french king in coalition with the church at the time, who the king Philip IV had in his pocket via the Pope Clement V (Philip at the time owed vasts sums of money to the Knights Templars and so was eager to get rid of t hem, the church too since it no longer had a use for Templar Knights to defend the Jerusalem trail, since Jerusalem and the Holy Land was lost.

Sometime in the early 1300's the french King Philip had the leader of the order and as many of his officers as knights as could be easily found simultaniously arrested and charged with lots of different heresies, most of which were the standard "I want to get rid of you" charges, things that could not be proven or disproven so required extraction of a confession, and after you had a few hot pokers in your private places, you would confess to have murdered and raped the Virgin Mary...

A short while after the arrests and "confessions" of the Knight Templars, Philip had his Pet Pope issue a Pastoralis Praeeminentiae, a Popial edict instructing all true christian kings and lords to arrest any Knights Templar they encountered.

This pretty much spelled the end of the Knights Templars and at an ironic twist of fate, most of these strong christian believers and defenders ended up being burned at the stake as heretics....

And thus ends the history lesson for now, since I gotta run and noone gives a crap anyway

But I am sure he did not speak many words in English if at all. But many English kings have seen them selves as Kings of France or at least the righteous monarch or what not (look at the Arms of the Kingdom of England, using the Fleur de Lis) Actually Bretagne(Brittany) and Normandie (Normandy) was English for some time.

Quote:
In 1328, King Edward III of England inherited a claim to the crown of France, and about 1340 he accordingly quartered France Ancient with the arms of the Kingdom of England. After the kings of France adopted France Modern, the kings of England imitated them from about 1411. The monarchs of England (and later of Great Britain) continued to quarter the French arms until 1801, when George III abandoned his formal claim to the French throne.
This was of course later then the Crusades but I am sure a lot of Brits might never have heard the story Smile

For the sake of Assassin's Creed only 8600GTS, although so heavily criticised here and there works really fine even with pre-gold version Smile. I get around 30 fps in 1280x900 (only in this bizarre res I can run it without widescreen's black spaces) and full details... It chops at times when it loads another part of the map and I know its because of 128bit architecture but putting that aside its performance in this game is FLAWLESS.

The only two titles that were really choppy at times and only on HIGH details are: Crysis and World at Conflict... The very rest including GoW and Bioshock works splendid Smile

And if you are to choose between 8600gt and HD2600 the choice is obvious... THESE ATis are awful when it comes to gaming... ~.~

This game runs kinda fine on my brother's computer (dual core 2,06 (I think), geforce 8800gts, 3gb of ram - vista32), with just some minor freezes.
On mine it freezes up and I have to restart the pc, I can't even do an alt+tab and close the game.

My specs are:
Quad core 6600, geforce 8800 gt, 4gb of ram - Vista 32

I think that it has something to do with my computer being a quad core. Does anyone have the same problem?

The game ran great on my brother's computer ... with the exception of one thing, which neither of us can figure out; he ran it at 1024 with settings on lv2 - was getting a VERY playable framerate (30-38, iirc) everywhere in the game, except when you leave the Animus and go back to the "real" world. The framerate dropped to 2-5fps then, before crashing. Specs;

Athlon64-3700+ San Diego @2.5Ghz (SINGLE core!)
2GB G.Skill PC4200 DDR1
GeForce 7900GTO-512

Why would the game run great in the villages and around town, yet run so poorly before crashing in the "real" world, where detail and graphic effects were nowhere near as intensive?

@Serben

It's not the OS. I'm running it on Vista-x86 and it's flawless, same card - different CPU.

just get a 9600GT lol. It's like the same price as a 8600GTS, but 6 times better ...

*lol just checked the prices of 8600GT/S .. damn .. we get 8600GT from as low as 50€ ...

but still, the 9600GT (512mb) starts at around 120€ here... and it is way better for the money ... WAY better.
