No......
I see your point though, but I don't think it's a reflection on people as individuals, just what happens when you have unlimited choice.....

Thought about it more....
Given that the opinion is with regards to art, it's subjective and so can never be taken as an absolute value, but taken as an average impression, my original point if anything implies that I take my information from the comunity as a whole not from an individual which I think your argument relies on.........

No to what? There is a clear difference between individuals on this site with regards to their objectivity, yet they are all part of this 'unlimited choice' demographic.
Why would it be a reflection on anything but the individual if they begin acting like a spoilt brat because of a privilege. Do you feel the same way about rich individuals who lose their appreciation for anything other then the grandiose.

My argument relies on the fact that this community is far removed from the average gamer. If anything it is less representative of the quality of a game considering many games require an investment of time to truly show their quality. Yet because of the 'unlimited choice' dynamic many of these individuals are unwilling to invest time in a game that doesn't instantly satisfy their expectations.
How can you expect to get an objective consensus when you're basing your averages on this.

FORUM Technique, the post sidetrack........
You can't beat 'subjective' irrespective of how hard you try.....

Jade Raymond Does Germany
Everyone's favourite producer was recently in Berlin at Berlinale 2008 to present 'Not Your Daddy's Game - Why the best movie talent is getting involved in video games'. Touching on numerous topics, including the making of Assassin's Creed, Jade mostly talks about how film industry veterans can get involved with gaming to make better tie-in titles, and original properties.

Jade also reveals that Assassin's Creed has now sold over 6 million copies worldwide.

So what do you think? If you dont buy things they will get cheaper? If you dont buy things the industry will continue forever and ever giving you products for nothing?
And again, think further. First, after this principle the price would raise but then they would just "produce" a greater number of, e.g. copys of a certain game. That would lead to a new equation of demand and supply and the price would fall again. And since there are more people who buy their stuff they could lower the price.

in my experience the price and quality in games have on this decade nearly always been inversely relative
that is, cheap indie games have given me much more value than the latest overpriced supposedly "AAA" title

Piracy kinda acts like an antagonist. Publishers can't put high prices in games because then more people will be driven to the "fuck you, i'm gonna pirate it" argument.
Now if piracy was to magically disappear (although i believe even magic can't do that) then publishers would be holding a monopoly in their hands. Nothing would be able to stop them from selling their games at a higher price.
And seriously i feel sorry for anyone that thinks that if it wasn't for piracy games/software/movies/music would be cheaper. I guess people forget that these multinational companies are ran by people in suits that no amount of profit is good enough for them. If more is obtainable, they want it.

This topic is about ASSASSIN'S CREED, not about PIRACY AND BUYING GAMES.
Go start a new thread about that.
Anyways, can't wait for the proper release/entering Jerusalem!

I buy the games i like and bin the rest. As with films too many games look good via the trailer and screenshots and turn out to be complete crap this is why i choose to download games before i use any of my hard earned cash to buy one. I understand that we should all be buying what we use, but, until companies release games that work properly ie dont need patching every 5 minutes people will try before they buy, and i dont blame them. The rising cost is also a major factor in this and it has very little to do with sales more along the lines of pure greedy profit making.
And last but not least my pc wasnt free and neither is having to update its hardware every so often just to play these games, neither is my bandwidth, the software i use or the electricity i use to power these thngs it all costs ME not the big guy sitting at his desk looking out at his new Porsche ,ME , yes i make the choice to have all these things and do what i do but so does he, he has the choice not to roll out 99 crap pieces of software and 1 good one, thats his choice its just my choice not to support him.

She praises AC's story and talk about how it worked so well was because they brought in movie writers right from the initial brainstorming process. She actually says straight out something like "games are becoming more about the story than just some guy jumping around" HAHA. AC - lame story + more varied mission setups = the AC we really wanted. Movie writers stay away from games thx.
EDIT: Think two pirates on a ship ever had a conversation about their influences on the local economy and quality of traded goods? "I just plunder, man get off my back.."
