|
 |
Hi,
I'm currently running the firmware 3.10 OE-A and I'd like to upgrade it to the latest customer firmware but I have no idea how to start doing so.
I tried google to find some kind of tutorial containing all the files, but couldn't find one. Can anyone help me out?
thx,

One thing to bear in mind before you do........
Upgrading to 3.71 should be fairly straight forward and just a case of finding all relevant firmware EBOOTS and placing them in the correct places.......
Upgrading to 3.8/3.9 which are the latest firmwares, Sony has changed something about the code that is used to access the memory stick, which causes isos to be accessed much slower....
When I did it, it produced a lot of slowdown in most games, the guy that is creating the firmware released a patch which replaces the relevant 3.8/9 library with the one from 3.7 but to install it you need to perform a process which requires you to run a program called psardumper? on a 3.71 update EBOOT and it gives you about 3 options with regards to whether you want the files encrypted or not.....
The top option results in a semi-brick, and I had to buy one of those tool batteries to rectify the issue........

When your PSP is semi bricked, you can still enter recovery mode, and from here you can access flash0 as well as connect via USB......
Because I didn't back this up I had to buy an extra battery, but everything I read implied that you can make a direct backup of this folder, and in the event of a semi brick, enter USB mode and copy over a working backup to flash0 which will restore your psp without needing to use a pandora battery..........
Please don't take my word for this being the case though..........
I'd post on psphacks if I were you..............
