I wonder how Ubisoft feels, when hundreds of connections are made to the update server, while not a single soul outside their house should have the game... Sooner or later they might kill our game by sending a faulty patch Razz
Good that i'm not using the launcher anymore

You can bypass that by deleting the launcher.exe (it's not the exact name, but similar, has a violet image), in the main folder and link the shortcut on the desktop directly to the exe you're using, e.g. the assasinscreeddx9.exe.

But another question: What do you think how dangerous it is that they can check the ips? Are they able to use that information considering german and american law?

I read recently that in case they report an offence against you they can actually claim the required information from the isp, regarding the german law. That would mean that it's actually possible that they start an immense attack on at least the german guys who played this version.

I don't know german law, but most places you'll need a court order to get any information disclosed from an ISP.

Some companies spend resources on going through stuff like that and sending generic DMCA notices to the ip's registered isp abuse contact, the ISP will then either ignore it or forward it for your own ignoring pleasure.

Some companies try to scare people with legal action by massmailing out DMCA (Digital Millenium Copyright Act) notices, basically it's a letter telling you to delete what you downloaded, and never do it again, or get sued.

Obviously they can't just sue anybody, and i've never heard of anyone being sued based on those e-mails.

Is there any reason not to run the EXE files directly instead of the two launcher programs?

I guess people use the default shortcut that links to the first launcher which checks for updates before launching the second launcher which in turn check compatability and then launch either the DX9 exe or the DX10 exe.

I always launch the games directly without shortcuts unless I need to create one to use launch parameters like -nointro and similar.

EDIT: Just to clarify I don't think the shortcut matters anyway albeit it might be a bit quicker to launch the game directly instead of using the launchers though all they do is check for any updates and then launch the proper version.

Well, it goes against the whole argument of the source of the RLD rls not being complete (forget Jerusalem for a sec Wink ). I remember reading Ubi saying that this rls was beta, and that the extra PC content wasn't in there yet. That just isn't true, because those extra missions are definitely in the game, in the RLD rls.

I wish there was a very computer savvy Russian who would make like a subtitle program for Jerusalem. I don't need to hear the generic responses from saved citizens, or the constant and incessant nagging from those damn beggars, but if we could somehow just read subtitles for the important bits, the investigations and the assassinations, I'd be fine with playing the game like that Smile

Well the lead guy from Ubi put out a statement a few days ago, remember? He said it was coming "Mid April" so perhaps the 11th IS mid-April?
