Confused

Just happened all of a sudden. It's not my speakers because even if I plug in a headset I get the audio just out of one place (sounds central - even though CMSS is off). I don't understand it. Any ideas?

Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Elite
WinXP

I just installed the non-beta web drivers (had the beta drivers installed previously) and it's still a no go. Noticed it whilst playing Audiosurf - thought it was strange the majority of sound was coming from the left speaker and sure enough... most of it was and none out of the right.

dont quite understand what your problem is? what channels are being heard in which speakers? are you saying left and right channels are being merged into the left speaker? are you still getting audio out of the right speaker?

With my Creative inspire t6100's (cheap 5.1) the right speaker doesn't make a sound - all of its information is being heard on the left channel (left speaker). It's distinct because if you use diagnostics it will say "FRONT LEFT" (fine)....."FRONT CENTER" (fine)...."FRONT RIGHT" (fine... but comes from the front left speaker!) the surrounds are correct also.

If I use my headphones (the only other audio device I have at the minute) then the sound won't be distinct from either ear, it sounds like it's coming central/mono (and 3D mode is off).

Don't get why at all.

try removing the drivers, then reinstall them. check all your connectors. check the x-fi control panel, i think the first item on the menu has to do with plug placement. hard to diagnose these things without seeing the setup

also, check your balance in the sound control panel
