i wouldnt say it was boring, but perhaps he had just hoped for more action? i mean it was more of a drama than anything, apart from the final shootout which was pretty stupid. dont get me wrong, i enjoyed the film, just trying to offer up a reason why he might not have.

Yes indeed it ain't a Clint Eastwood / John Wayne western. It's funny how people get all meh when they find out something is not what they expected.
"Cildren of Men not sci-fi action? Meh!"
"Yuma - a drama? Meh!"
"Day of the Dead not true to zombie genre?! Meh!"
"My Blueberry Nights has direction different from the rest of Hollywood movies - double meh!"

I like films were death is a significant issue, I mean every death in the film, rather then just the Hero's wife or some shit. Yuma and Children of Men are examples of this.
Not that I dislike films where the protagonist kills like 50 people and no-one cares, but it's nice to have a more realistic portrayal every now and then.

A Scanner Darkly 7/10
This movie made no sense what-so-ever..
just seemed like random events and talking all rolled in together with some kind of acid trip.
Anyone care to spoiler explain the entire movie to me go ahead.. but it was pretty fun to watch.

Spoiler: | its been a while since i saw it, but theres a drug thats basically fucking everyone up, so many people are hooked on it, its like a major thing to bust the people growing it, but noone knows who is responsible for it... keanu is like an undercover cop or whatever, his job is to kinda work his way up the chain of supply and find out some info about whose behind it, but finds himself getting hooked on the drug... he keeps his anonymity by using that weird ass suit, so that his cover cannot be blown, but little does he realise hes basically being sacrificed by his superiors, who believe they know who the head of the drug organisation is, but cant get any proof - they set our boy keanu up to basically self destruct from the drug, and get recruited to tend the fields (they basically take in those people whose minds have been destroyed by the drug to harvest the flowers), having a slim hope that he'll retain just enough of what he was and the job he had to do, to get them some proof, which we assume he hopefully does at the end... long story short, keanu was set up to become a retard from his drug use by his bosses to help them find out whose runnin the druggy empire... long story even shorter... yer... drugs r bad |
anyway atleast thats how i remember it, its been...pff.. ages since i saw it so if im wrong, lemme know.
dammit, beaten by a second.
