Say I was to hire 12 mexicans and ordered them to go park in every spot of the local "Sonic drive-in restaurant",and simply not leave. Say I was to then charge Sonic $500 in order to make them leave. I believe it would be legal, I might have to have them order the cheapest item on the menu though. If they tried to tow my vehicles I could then sue themI think this could be a great business opportunity. If I did this every day that would be a gross income of $3500 per week PER RESTAURANT!!

I'm not a legal expert but I'd say that is still trespassing ...

you are interfering with their business, ergo you are trespassing.

Sounds like a typical extortion trick to me. A bit like "Hey Tony, ya gadda nize businezz hear, tell ya watt, somet could happen hear unless you pay up...wadda ya say Tony" In other words. I will stop smashing up your place unless you pay...same thing no?

What if I made a script that spams fake releases onto usenet binary groups, to the extent of making them useless for warez downloaders. Say I charged the MPAA money to start doing it, then charged giganews money to stop doing it. WIN-WIN!!

Become an Amazon affiliate, spam links to exercise equipment, and rake in the cash Wink As for the Mexican idea, don't do it. Cops are smart enough to catch anything like that in the "real world". Cyberspace is where all the quick $$$ lies Wink

Well I just tested out a fake release for a laugh, from a dedicated server I have, and it already got indexed on the nzb sites (even manually updated ones). LOLOLOL this could be a real money spinner. Can't see how it would be anymore illegal than posting a real release, have to get a lawyer to go over the terms of service I guess.

I would have thought so too, all his little 'schemes' are ridiculous.

Charging the MPAA for spamming newsgroups? What fucking planet are you on...

There is already a few companies spamming P2P actually, paid by the MPAA and other people. I dont know why they dont spam usenet because it would be easy as shit. They tried to sue a provider a while ago maybe spamming will be the next step.

You ever heard of subcontractors or consultants? How about I just do some perl scripting and email it to them for free. It seems to have flown over your head that this thread wasnt too serious its just the shit I think up when I'm bored.

But seriously some pretty simple scripting, monitoring the right places and a few dedicated servers and usenet would be unusable for almost everyone. I did a test with newspost and a simple bash script in less than 10 minutes.

Would be a no go here. Restaurant owners and their workers have too many friends you don't want to game play with. Some restaurant people relay on TIPS !!!

Here, (BC Canada) I believe the law is that you are "invited" into their business. If they don't want you they can ask you to leave. It is your choice if you want to come back or not. Yes , you can order food but once it is gone they have the right to ask you to leave. They also have the right to refuse to serve you again.

Our parking lots are pretty big. You would have a lot of money to pay out for nothing.

PS. not a good idea to fuck around with hungry people. Low blood suger=crazy behavior

Listen to this one then; you open a company called the Arse Tickler's Faggot Fan Club. You take an advert in the back page of some gay mag, advertising the latest in arse-intruding dildos, sell it a bit with, er... I dunno, "does what no other dildo can do until now", latest and greatest in sexual technology. Guaranteed results or money back, all that bollocks. These dills cost twenty-five each; a snip for all the pleasure they are going to give the recipients. They send a cheque to the company name, nothing offensive, er, Bobbie's Bits or something, for twenty-five. You put these in the bank for two weeks and let them clear. Now this is the clever bit. Then you send back the cheques for twenty-five pounds from the real company name, Arse Tickler's Faggot Fan Club, saying sorry, we couldn't get the supply from America, they have sold out. Now you see how many of the people cash those cheques; not a single soul, because who wants his bank manager to know he tickles arses when he is not paying in cheques!

I want 50% and your sister for the idea. Very Happy

Even if he could upload the amount of data it would take to be disruptive, which is a joke in itself, it would just cause people to use forums to tell each other that the genuine release of xxxx was the one that was posted at about yyyy on whatever date.....

Also, because for the idea to work he would have to synchronise the size of the files as well as the nfo and all the other shit that goes with it, the first one to be posted will probably be the valid one......

Not sure how Usenet servers behave when they reach capacity though, if they act like a stack and start deleting oldest shit?

Might be viable for a giant like Microsoft to try, but then I guess if that happened, you're right the major Usenet servers would just block IPs and create software mechanisms to delete fake shit......

How would they know what you are posting, are they going to open up the rar files, mount the iso, install it and test it? Also they claim they don't keep logs? Just get a massive block of IPs or change servers every month. The public nature of the system seems very open to abuse. Those usenet companies are making lot of money off warez, I'm sure 90% of the users are just warez downloaders.

Have you checked how cheap bandwidth is lately? You could fake every scene release for under $100. You can get a GigE for under $1000. That's roughly 333 TB of data a month.
