You really don't need alot of FPS in RTS seriously.

I hope they don't fuck it like they did with Yuri's revenge. RA 2 alike only!

Jesus, maybe we will see sharks with laser beams attached to their heads, after all Red Alert is known for their water units.

Press Release
Co-op single-player campaign promised (see video for further details), first screenshots posted:
After a seven-year hiatus, Electronic Arts today announces the return of Red Alert, one of the most beloved and best-selling real-time strategy franchises. Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3, for the PC, Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system and the PLAYSTATION 3 computer entertainment system, takes players on an epic adventure to a breathtaking alternate future spawned by time travel run amok. Developed by EA Los Angeles, Red Alert 3 breaks new ground in the RTS genre, featuring a fully co-operative campaign while bringing back the series’ light-hearted style and classic, action-oriented gameplay.
“The Red Alert games are known for challenging hardcore strategy gamers with depth, variety, and innovative gameplay. But they also belong to that rare breed of games that can draw in more casual players with their over-the-top stories, instantly accessible mechanics, and straight-to-the-fun design,” said Mike Verdu, general manager of EALA. “With Red Alert 3, our team is continuing that proud tradition by introducing genre-first features like co-operative campaign play, which rewards veterans and casual players alike. In Red Alert 3, friends and family can always have your back.”
“It’s been too long.” said Chris Corry, executive producer at EALA. “Fans have been waiting for a new Red Alert game for seven years, and we’re working hard to ensure its well worth the wait. The team is staying true to the series’ roots while adding new elements like a co-operatively played story-driven campaign, an astounding new faction that will shake-up the Red Alert universe as we know it, and units that will help make Red Alert 3 everything our fans have been waiting for. And by bringing naval combat into the heart of the game design, we’re transporting that fast, fun and fluid C&C gameplay to the high-seas in ways that you’ve never seen before.”
In Red Alert 3, the desperate leadership of a doomed Soviet Union travels back in time to change history and restore the glory of Mother Russia. The time travel mission goes awry, creating an alternate timeline where technology has followed an entirely different evolution, a new superpower has been thrust on to the world stage, and World War III is raging. The Empire of the Rising Sun has risen in the East, making World War III a three-way struggle between the Soviets, the Allies, and the Empire with armies fielding wacky and wonderful weapons and technologies like Tesla coils, heavily armed War Blimps, teleportation, armored bears, intelligent dolphins, floating island fortresses, and transforming tanks.
Red Alert 3 asks the question “What If?” What if every bizarre research project and technology experiment for the last 70 years had actually borne fruit? What if the Philadelphia Experiment, time travel theory, teleportation, invisibility, Tesla technology, and a hundred other intriguing research projects had all paid off and gone mainstream? What if the Soviet Union survived and thrived; what would it look like 10 years in the future? What if the Japanese Empire had never fallen and instead became the ultimate high-tech military superpower? The end result is an imaginative and playful vision of an alternate future filled with possibility.
Command & Conquer fans eager to experience Red Alert 3 before anyone else can get early access to the beta (available for the PC only - an announcement about the Red Alert 3 beta dates will be made this summer) by picking up a copy of Command & Conquer 3: Kane’s Wrath later this year.

xbox360 and ps3 too, oh joy...
Well at least the reward is a nice cutscene in the end so that can force you to play threw the hole game, which I hope won't suck too much.

red alert never sucked, C&C never sucked(if you don't consider Generals a C&C, although the game was awsome, it just didn't feel like C&C... Generals in my book is just a great strategy game NOT C&C).. i have confidence in EA LA after C&C 3. coop sounds good too.

Those were westwood now it's ea giving orders, second, none of those games came out on consoles, and why the fuck should they how can you play a strategy game with a gamepad?! I might as well play it with my dick. C&c3 did came out on consoles and it had some nice cutscenes but was probably the worst c&c ever.
Third, I actually liked generals, great fun with that game and it probably had on of the best voice acting ever in a rts.

The thing i hated was how you could have 20 super weapons, played over Hamachi with my friends, i took out 3 bases simultaneously with super weapons only.

Template added.
Additional info (thanks to GoraysP and Hagren from EA forums) :
Quote: | Every unit has secondary functions. The allied tank for instance is able to concentrate radar beams to be used as a scouting unit
-Altough not visible on the screens, there’s going to be massive damaging in RA3, with weapons carving colossal craters into the ground
-Most structures are placeable on water for extra cost
-Ships can only “land”/leave shore on sand, so its crucial to defend these areas
-The article writer claims that the impressive graphics don’t shine through the screens. In his opinion, graphics are much better compared to CnC3, he’s especially flabbergasted by the animations
-The Russians have a submarine called “ Akula” which isn’t simply deadly against ships, but is able to train divers as well
-The Bullfrog transport ship doesn’t have to set shore, its able to “shoot” out the units it’s carrying
-The Japanese Seawing bomber is able to transform into a submarine simply by falling into the water
-Sea battles will be crucial in this game
-The Japanese enroll a water-affin tank called “Tsunami” which is both heavily armoured and powerful, and slower on land than in water
-The campaign can be co-operatively played with a friend from start to finish. If theres no one to play it with, you can choose between an array of AI allies to fight the war
-SC2s lead designer worked on RA3 before he went to Blizzard
-Gameplay will be much slower, an aspect, along with the beta, that the team concluded from TW. The writer confirms this slowdown.
-Enemy soldiers freeze upon Allied dogs’ barking
-The Mobile V4 is able to swim as well, but its main draw points is the precise and area- effective attack.
- The Russians’ submarine, the Stingray Nasad, sports tesla-launchers, and is a rather small, but fast unit
-The writer praises the smooth animations, explosion effects and water in general again and again, its crazy!
--Live-action FMVs are back mixed with CGI and outdoor scenes
-The writer holds that RA3 wont be as good as SC2, but damn close, and even better than RA2
-No Yuri
-Atmosphere is top notch
- Expansion pack is already planned |
