I couldn't think fo where best to post this, so i am posting it here. How safe is it to download from torrents? I know that virsues and the like are a concern, but I mean as far as legal ramafications? Keep in mind I live in the US.

I have a good source to get warez from. but there is one thing i am needing and i can not locate it on anything other than a torrent. i have never used a torrent for anything except for 1x to download some software that was abandon ware (which i later bought anyway off Amazon used).

So, I know some may find this stupid and that is ok. But I really am curious about it.

nforce probably not the place to ask. I could be wrong, but this'll get closed?

Legally speaking, I doubt it's a grey area. You're probably more or less fucked, if targeted, especially without big $ for lawyering. But you could debate the ethics/morality till you're blue and then some.

No reason to close this thread, its not breaking rules to ask about how easily you can be caught.

You can still use peerguardian or similar to prevent most of those who will try to monitor your filesharing to be able to connect to your bittorrent client.

Imo it was a good question

Edit: I've never used torrents so I have no idea how they work - so imo it would be fun to know Smile

If you are afraid of viruses just check out comments, or better don't use public sites at all. There are lots of good torrentsites with good pretime and speed ^^
