Mine does this too. It's quite annoying.
Did the sounds disappear when you started burning with 111d?

Actually the sound was still there after I started using my 112d burner. But when I updated fw from 1.2c to 1.3, the noises were gone. The problem was when I had 1.2c, the fw was spoofed as an ms28 but my drive is an ms25. So I spoofed 1.3 as ms25 using fwtb and then flashed the drive.

It still doesnt sound identical to an original disc though. But the annoying squeaky noises are gone. I use 12x as well.

Just wanted to say that I re-flashed mine with 1.4 8x and the whistling noise went away Smile
So, if anyone else is having this problem (with 12x fw), try flashing to 8x.

Is it possible to backup an already burned copy of a scene release with a Pioneer drive?

Oh I see. I was just a little worried because I wasnt sure if other drives besides Kreon would properly read the disc. And I was also uncertain about if the image needed to be patched or something.

But anyways yay Smile

I have a question regarding media. Has anybody tried burning to Sony discs? I burned Burnout to a Sony disc and it seems to be working good. My Memorex discs however get stuck occasionally.

Today I was playing a Memorex disc and it got stuck. Then I played a Sony disc and no problems at all. Played a different Memorex disc, got stuck twice, but the third time it worked fine.

The 2 Memomex discs were burned at 2.4x using IMGBurn with verify enabled using a Pioneer112D. The Sony disc was burned the same way. The Memorex discs are in mint condition. The Sony disc has a few scratches on it.

Sony > Memorex ?

Most of my burns have been with Sony DL's. Haven't had a problem reading yet. Never used a Memorex so can't really compare the two. The only difference I can notice between a Verb and a Sony is maybe like a fraction longer loading times and maybe just a bit more noise when streaming off the disc(which for all I know can be my imagination). But yeah never had a prob with em.

Wtf I went to the store today (STAPLES) and they had 15-pack Memorex spindle for $49.99(USD). Is that normal?? Seems way too overpriced.
