only 1cd though Sad booooooooooooooooo... its a pity the scene is full of immature little shits that cant regulate themselves, otherwise there'd be no rules and everyone would use good judgement... and movies like this would get 2cd... off to find a non-scene or internal one i guess Sad

just finished watching it, and it was really quite good... a few pacing issues, would have been better if theyd removed about 10 minutes from the film, but all in all a really enjoyable film... not QUITE the action film ive been waiting 10 years for, but its closer than any other films got.

best vegitable related killings EVER Very Happy

Jeez, what a pos! Downloaded it because of the hype, and sheesh, was I disappointed. Hard to see why Clive Owen and Monica Bellucci would star in a shit like this...

You have to watch each movie in its own context. You can't take a movie called 'Shoot 'em up' seriously because its a movie which doesn't take itself too seriously. Nobody takes these movies seriously and you won't be seeing any Mythbusters episode about whether it's possible to actually kill someone with a carrot anytime soon. Very Happy

It's a genre which you either like or don't but once you get the whole point of the film (mindless entertainment) you'll enjoy it. Who doesn't like a wise-cracking, bad-ass, shoot-first-ask-questions-never hero? Very Happy

Reminiscent of Sledge Hammer

i like my movies that take themselves seriously, with a proper story.

i didnt need to know the motivation of the alien to enjoy predator!! not saying this film is in the same league, not even close, but shoot em up is honest to itself, its unashamed to be all action, zero story.

its been a long time since a movie like this has been made... most films try to merge shooting action films with 'clever' stories, and you either get crap, or you get films like bourne which are heavy on story and light on action... this film does it right by ignoring story alltogether, rather than making a pretense out of having one.

So...i watched the movie and to quote Deb from "Dexter"...
HOLY FUCKING SHIT!

1. AWESOME music! Nirvana - one of my favourite bands (got myself a collection of bootlegs) and with a song that is one of my favs. Motorhead with absolute classic - Ace Of Spades. Many more including Iggy Pop and Wolfmother. Also Nirvana's and Motorhead's songs are in great moments. I nearly pissed myself at the first shooting scene (with Nirvana's "Breed").

2. Carrots. Gotta luv em' Very Happy Very Happy Scenes with carrot kills kick ass and boil cojones.

3. Action. Lots of action, lots of kitsch (do i spell it right?) and oil sliding Very Happy

4. Plot. Initially lame but at the end it gets something more than in most cheesy action movies.

5. Humour. The "Fuk U" and "Fuk U TOO" scene on the roof, the scene with hitting the guy who changes street lanes without a signal (it's something personal for me, i also hate that as in Poland it gets really fucking annoying!), the carrot killing scenes and many more are hillarious.

Overally I'll give it a 9/10. It's suffering from IMO wrong decision about making it more of a cheesy movie instead of a "serious" movie. It's like the director couldn't make up his mind. But also this think could be good, because thanks to that the film is a marvelous hybrid of two different movies.

A really "odd" movie. Clive Owen as Mr. Smith in Shoot Em Up is almost a perfect copy of the character played by him in Sin City. And that's a good thing.

i dont see the sin city resemblence but i absolutely loved the movie. A perfect no-brainer action movie. I pretty much hated Crank, because it tried the same but failed in many regards. This one just did everything right and got away with it while making me happy every step of the way Very Happy

There is a resemblence in characters played by Clive Owen both in Sin City and Shoot Em Up. He is the same guy with one face. I guess it wasn't the goal in Sin City and Owen was rather woody in there but it's great in Shoot Em Up. He is like "drinking, shooting, fucking, blah, whatever". And i liked that.
Crank was decent (6/10) but still was going overcheese in certain moments. And that's unforgiveable in that kind of movie. And Shoot Em Up? It's perfect. And the carrot fucking owns.
