omfg.
all initial reports suggest that you need to store XviD files ON the ps3 hdd to play them (even though soon later it was discovered that was not the case).
however, that is exactly what I want to do, I don't want to waste DVDs burning files, or have to lug extra hardware around just to stream (I think that is the lamest shit on the 360, forced to stream the files, dumb!).
so how the fuck do you even get the files over there? that "search for media server" bullshit is useless.
and ironically, with all the technological shit laying around, i don't even own a usb mem stick (or any usb storage devices) to make the transfer that way.
so, is life seriously trying to tell me with all the unlimited networking resources at my disposal it is impossible to copy a file to the ps3, it makes me want to walk to sony's offices right now and punch them in the fucking face if that's the case.
please someone educate me otherwise.

I've never understood why people go through the trouble of putting the movies on their console, unless they have a old tv, in which case I could understand as the quality, in many cases would be greater by playing it from the console.
There are long cables for it as well, if you have your tv far away... o.O |
I don't have the ability to hook my computer to my television, and even if that were the case, a ps3 is a lot more mobile than a computer.
if i want to drag my ps3 to another house, all i need to do is bring the ps3, and it'll hook up to any tv, done deal.

For those with HDTV's:
Does the PS3 allow DivX upscaling? Or only the native resolution?
