I think Valve is kinda smart with this new protection method Buyers now dont have problems with their cd-rom player, which does occur with Starforce 3. Now instead they can register every user who buy Halflife 2
However I am very disappointed when I am not able to play this game because of this new F*cking new way to harm us wareZz leechers

Ok , OF COURSE HALF LIFE 2 WILL HAVE STORY! Its very original also!
Its go like this , after , all what happened in HL 1 , (Gordon kick monsters/soldiers ass , killed main enemy/boss whatever) now he is back in research facility! Now , that is only begging , cause , there is bunch of evill secientist , in conection with evil ex- military special forces officers , they havent got any sense in life , so they , together createrd what.?

But they didint count on one thing...Gordon is not only a scientist ..he is also ex NINJA/NAVY SEAL/KUNG FU SHAOLIN PRIEST/VAMPIRE HUNTER/LORD OF PIMPS ... and he is on the rampage...he seeks revenge....he will win ...or die trying.......he is angry now.....unarmed or armed..and dangerous......get ready-----HL2 is coming....GORDON IS BACK..evil never dies...but Gordon lives aslo.

Eh? What are you saying? The Source engine it's written from scratch and it isn't the HL1 engine updated, the HL1 engine was a high modified version of the Quake II engine. Informing before talking.

LOS ANGELES (October 18, 2004) – Vivendi Universal Games (VU Games) today announced that Half-Life® ,2, the sequel to one of the most critically acclaimed PC titles in gaming history, will ship to retail outlets around the world in November. The Company confirmed that Half-Life 2, developed by Valve Software, has gone gold with a planned retail street date of November 16, 2004. The countdown to the highly anticipated retail street date has begun around the world, as VU Games completes plans to ship localized versions of Half-Life 2 simultaneously in English, French, Spanish, Italian, German, Traditional and Simplified Chinese, Korean, Thai and Japanese.
Half-life 2 will be available on shelves beginning on November the 16th.

Where have you gotten that info?
I cant imagine that you d have to register for SP. For MP sure, but then you d have to have internet anyways... |

i still havent found any shred of info about having to register the retail version online, only that you have to activate your steam-copy, which is kinda obvious really...
if somebody has a link to that rumor, please post it, else its only more FUD cropping up

IF you buy HL2 from steam then you cant play HL2 offline Steam is required every time you wanna play to log in first.
But if you buy it in stores all you gotta do is to register and you can play it even if your connection goes down.

Hmm the Doom 3 gold thread got to 127 pages - I wonder if this will beat it.
Also, regarding the activation thing, who the fuck doesn't have an internet connection but has a computer that is capable of playing HL2?! I would guess there is absolutely noone on the face of the earth in that situation.
