I'm no pro, just gonna say what I've been told from around these forums, E6750 is good for gaming as more games support dual cores now, a Q6600 is more future proof but at the moment I don't think many games work well with quads yet, and as for graphics cards are you meaning use 3 graphics cards in 1 machine? No, 2 is the max, sli them but thats a waist as most people will say (or so I think)

you can have 3 graphics cards in one machine, it's called 3-way SLI and is supported by 8800 GTX and Ultra cards only. Only with 3 GTX or ultra cards can you play crysis with anti aliasing and very high dx10 settings at high resolutions.
I'm not quite sure which motherboards support it though.
If he's got the money for that kinda stuff then why not. I would never spend that much because other than crysis, no game needs more than 1 gtx so it feels pretty useless to me.
On top of that the next generation of geforce cards will come in february or march which will most likely be at least twice as fast as an 8800 GTX anyway so I'd wait for those at least.
a core 2 duo E6750 is fine for all games right now. most games are GPU limited right now so the CPU doesn't matter that much.

The motherboard you quote can do crossfire (Ati), but not SLI (Nvidia).
The new 8800 GTS 512MB barely equals the 8800 GTX for half its price (plus have better power consumption and an updated video decoder).
I would rather wait for next-gen Nvidia GPUs -read 9800 GTX- than to buy another -already outdated- card.
Concerning CPU i would maybe also wait for the intel upcoming ones, even if the current 6750/6850 are more than enough for gaming.

thank u, pal.
just looked at the specs well and...i agree with your definition:
it's crossfire, definitely.
so:
which new mobo do i have to choose?
this according to the fact that i'd like to keep my 8800 gtx and gonna buy FOR SURE another one (2 sli). keep also in mind that the second one i'd had to buy (that, indeed, should be number 3 of the row and should make sli3) should fit as well on ths new mobo...
any help, buddy?

The new 780is are just beeing launched 3xSLI (TODAY). MSI was 1st on the scene and others will follow.

Or...you could wait untill Jan 2008 when the 790i will come, but that has DDR3 ONLY!
780i is DDR2 ONLY!
But hey, are U sure U don't want to wait for the 9800 GTX???
Its only like 2 and a half months away!.
Here another review
http://techreport.com/articles.x/13790
Quote: | Keep in mind, though, that Nvidia has something in the works to support upcoming Intel processors based on a 1600MHz front-side bus. We don't know what that chipset will look like just yet, but we expect it to be a bigger step forward than the 780i SLI. |

so, captain, let me understand:
msi is the only one at the moment which offers us the 3xsli?
no other?
asus, perhaps?
and btw, about my gfx, nope, i'd like to keep my 8800gtx and buy another one or, who knows, 2...
any other mobo?

I agree with KrAzY-KaMeL....3xSLI...why?. Get a fat 9800GTX and a new Wolfdale CPU instead, and u will be all set...next year that is ...That's at least what I will do .

9800GTX will probably be faster than 3xSLI, so why waste money?

yeah you'd have to be crazy to upgrade now if you've already got an 8800

first if all thank you all, ppl!
u'r precious.
the fu**c*k*ing problem is:
i'd like also spend 1800 euros ('bout 2000$) for a decent framerate and would like finally play crysis in full effect.
now what should i buy?
a CRAY?

why not take everyone's advice and save your money until there is something worth spending it on?
asus z170-A || core i5-6600K || geforce gtx 970 4gb || 16gb ddr4 ram || win10 || 1080p led samsung 27"

wise choice my friend triple sli has been proven to not be that competent to run crysis, so wait for the better thing.
