DONT!

Powerpoint should be nothing more than a visual aid. Short bullet points to outline what you intend on TALKING about, pictures and diagrams. Nothing more. No flashy animation crap.

yeah but it can still look professional without being a mess of animations and other crap Wink

stefan, I would try googling for powerpoint templates, since all of the ones that come with ppt suck, also google works for tips as well ...

http://www.google.ca/search?q=powerpoint+templates
http://www.google.ca/search?q=powerpoint+tips

and you should be saying plenty more than what is on your slides, really like syn said just 3-4 bullet points with as few words as possible or people will just read your slides and tune you out.

hmm browing through several templates , most is about a special background but little layout changes , i wouldnt mind a white background with good looking side graphic / font / subtle colors for the text

I would basically do my own stuff, backgrounds and what have you. PP or not, if the graphics are nice, then it does not really matter. I normally just throw in whatever and use the "Dissolve" transition.

1. Use a different colour background by all means but avoid going overboard with patterns and images. Distracts from the content.

2. Use a header and footer and a colour border around the page.

3. Incorporate your (or your company's) logo AND the logo of the target company/people/whatever in the footer and or header. Makes it look not only professional but conveys the message that you've made this presenation specially for them rather than recycled some crap you've used on a zillion other people.

I guess it is easy for me since I have to use premade company slide templates, fonts, suggested layouts etc. Razz

one suggestion I have is to make sure that all headings and bullet points are in the exact same position on all the slides .. having shit jump around when you go from slide to slide looks quite craptastic Wink
