CaptainCox wrote: | I am sure its ok, as they all have to use the same chips etc. | Yeah, it is ok until you run into problems. The huge difference will be seen in the warranty, the Point Of View cards that i have seen had a one year warranty, the support -or lack of- being done via the reseller, while some others like eVga or BFG have a lifetime -10 years in Europe- warranty, you can even change the cooling solution for eVga without breaking it, and they do the support directly which i prefer. I would not take a card with a warranty of only one year (e.g. my 7900GT SC CO started to artifact after 1 year and a half), actually i won't go for less than the 3 years of gigabyte.

It doesn`t matter what brand you buy atm. they are ALL the same - nvidia reference design. Only thing that could be different is the cooler and the bios.
don`t waste money for overclocked cards. Every card will do at least 650-700 core and 950+ ram.

Apparently Nvidia is changing the 8800 GT reference cooler.
All cards shipped to retailers from now on should use the new one.
The cooler keeps the card a little cooler while beeing a lot less noisy under full load.
The max speed of the new one is only about 1650rpm while the old one would go up to as much as 4500rpm.

On my XFX 8800GT box it says:
. Non SLI 500Watt or greater
.SLI 600 Watt or greater
So you need at least a 500Watt PSU to run it.
