Just installed COD4, everythings running fine except i can't change Water Detail or Model Detail higher than 'Normal'. The other options literally aren't there when i cycle through them. I was gonna try change the cfg but can't find it. Anyone have any ideas?

Still haven't managed to change these settings. Loving the game though. As far as i can tell with the intel gathered, once you change the textures to extra from the options menu with AF, your maxed. Judging by comparisons @ 1920x1080 maxed i'm pretty certain once you change those ops to extra your playing at the best COD4 has to offer. If not this game looks fucking amazing either way and runs little a dream so im not to worried.

anyone with a 7950 experiencing black textures from cardboxes, weapons, etc? I looked around seems like i'm not the only one.
Bummer, the game is awsome but I don't want to spoil the fun with some graphical glitches. I'm using the latest nvidia drivers.

My guess its a vista issue. Vista always is the root to all evil. Will install in on my XP system to see.

Try this:
Find the file: "mssmp3.asi" default directory is C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\miles
Rename it to: "mssmp3.bak"

What a load of bullcrap. Believe it or not, for me the game is running better on Vista x64 than it did on oh ever so perfect XP. In XP I was getting that crazy annoying stuttering and in Vista x64 the game is completely smooth.

I'm using the 169.09 beta-drivers from nvidia and i have that blacktexture problem, or they aint always black it flickers all the time when i'm in some room with lights, its like when I'm are under i light it flickers, but when i get some meters away from it, it looks like normal. This is the only game who does that. I have tried to use Default settings, but no luck. It's really annoying. btw using Geforce 7600 GS 512mb.

why do you need to ask the same question in 5 different threads?
