well the redist didn't help. the .exe still crashed.

[edit] I used that wargame.zip file I posted and seems to have fixed the crashing problem lol.

well wtf, skypez dies on a turret gun (the noob). right, so i go there to revive him and all i can do is grab the pos gun. i try to find a spot where the 'e' would revive him and actually find such pixel to stand on. but no, game does nothing.

Well, the g4wl redistributable didn't change shit. Still have that runtime error that stops me from even starting the piece of shit. Smile
Wonderful game. Really.
Every game reviewer that gave this pc-version crap 9/10 and such are fucking cunts and are bought by MS and Epic.
Probably the same bought assholes that gave high scores to that worthless piece of shit Splinter Cell Double agent.

thompa try this:
go to the documents folder, then in my games folder, delete the Gears of War folder. this allowed me to run the game the first time.

did you try the fixed files I posted? It completely disables windows live.

Actually, that wargame.zip solved it. Now I get to the Epic & MS-intros and after that it crashes.
Call me nostalgic, but I prefer the good old days when you actually could play the games and there were no shit called "Games for Windows Live".

I can actually see a lot of companies not using it. Only reason it was in gears of war was because MS owns the rights to it. And they ruin everything they own.

Sure there's still a lot of games without it. And there will be a lot in the future. But it's coming more and more. Not only in Gear, Kane & Lynch and such games. I bet MS will pay companies a good amount in the future to have them implement that shit in their games.
I'm just fearing the worst, that's all.

I seem to have found the problem - tha game lets me play without profile - no saves. When I log to a profile (player 1) it will crash. It wont allow to create new profile, because there is no keygen.
Still playing it without savepoints is worthless.

EDIT: nope. still fucking crashes.

EDIT2: Finally got that shit working! Problem was in firewall blocking error reports.

co-op works fine, till we drive with that vehicle & the blue spotlight mounted on it. everytime at the same point my friend's game crashes.

also if i play on after the litle jump with the car he cannot join.
same when i play till next checkpoint.

I've just installed this game and it won't start Sad
I've updated the game to version 1.1 and now even with daemon tools version 4.10.
Yet it won't start can someone give me some pointers on how to get it running please?

i did everything that's on the first page of this thread. i've read also the gears of war official forums but i can't find a solution .

i install the game. patch it . and then i get a "out of range" error on my monitor. i can hear the sound but i can only see this error .

x2 4200
2 g RAM
8600 gt
nforce 430
xp sp2.
169.21 drivers installed. amd dual core optimiser/drivers.c++ redistribution.live ann all this shit installed.

please help me. Sad do u have any idea on what to do ?

What kind of monitor are you using? If its a really old CRT than chances are you have the wrong dimensions set for the graphics. You should be able to see that from the config files of the game.

My framerate drops to zero just after the movies when i enter the main menu. The keys are responding with 4-5 seconds delay.

My PC specs are 8800GTS 640MB, Core 2 Duo E4300 and 4GB Ram. I'm using WinXP.

All drivers are up to date and i tried everything from the first post.

Can anyone help me?
