It also does not work here.
It says:

"Installing from disk...".

Then the server is busy and in steam it says downloading 0%.
You can stop that or retry to download. Only option is purchase...

"Steam servers are currently busy ..." is the usual error message when you try to download something from steam with a cracked client.

Does this release work for anybody? It starts to install and I get the usual "Steam servers are curently busy ..."

I tried with the unpatched Steam and with the undead patch.
Same problem, this release sucks like hell, and so does HATRED.

OK, the detonation release works, but I didn't like the game. Menus are total crap, loading is unreasonably long (wtf?), gameplay kinda indifferent.

Now I gotta reinstall Chaos League !

HATRED fucked this release up royally.

Game's great, in my opinion. Really faithful to the original, which is still one of the best action sports games ever. Totally gonna buy it at American retail.

I tried the detonation release and well the game really seems rushed/unpolished.
The thing that gets most on my nerve so far (apart the random crashes while changing resolution/settings...) is the joypad control options
I have a ps2 similar control and i can't configure it for some reason !

Now i'm going to try again, so far the game plays well but it's a pain to make it work properly

I really like this game. But loading is long and menu sucks, but that shouldn't affect gameplay which it doesn't Smile

Just installed and tested for a few minutes... and I'm already in problems... How do you set the controls so that if you press a key on the keyboard the player shoots the ball?
The obvious "Go into control settings, find and select shoot, press the desired key" method doesn't work. That only seems to work for all other actions, except shooting
Pretty annoying to have to move your hand over to the mouse every time you want to shoot

loved this game on my old atari st!!!

this is a good remake, gameplay is exactly as i remember, but obiusly with better graphs lol

don´t know about the rest of you ppl,but don´t have any trouble with the controls.can play with my logitech dual action gamepad without any prblem.can redefine the keys, all of them.

now all i want is another couple remakes.
all good carrier command and syndicate wars

Changing the keys is not a problem, but changing from mouse to a key gives you a problem (at least here i did), as the game doesn't change the controls config file correctly. Here's how to fix it:

All you had to do was to go into: E:\Games\Speedball 2 Tournament\Speedball 2\Datas\Settings\Inputs\Users\YourName.cfg
Find the lines that uses mouse buttons, which is pretty easy as near the end of the lines it says "Mse", just change that to "Key" and it should work

Like the game, but there is one thing that is one gripe about it:

The original "Ice Cream! Ice Cream!" sample is missing. It has been replaced by something dull.

Am I the only one having major issues getting this game to play smoothly?

My vid card ain't the greatest card in the world but it ran COD 4 at 1024 looking great.

For this game I turned everything off and the resolution to 800 and it's still a choppy mess.
