I used to buy the same games magazine every month until that magazine gave 92% to Conquest Earth and I bought that piece of shit. Sometimes I read reviews online but would never pay money for it anymore.
I never really bother with individual review sites, meta sites are the best way to judge the quality of a game. Even then only extremely high or extremely low collated scores influence whether I would buy a game.

fair point, it's just this dude seems to give unusual scores for games, which would be great if the scores went with the general consensus of user opinion, but they don't.
Maybe he has his own opinion. Giving games a numerical score is by far the dumbest thing that mainstream reviews do anyway; scores should be done away with, but that would force the idiocracy to read, so...
IF they where going to fire anyone over some questionable shadey policy it should be the editor as he would have been the one to approve/disapprove any reviews going live.
That settles it. In the future I'll only trust fellow nforcers opinions on games. When I read through 4-5 pages I get a pretty good picture of the game which is not biased on one persons opinion.
That's what I used to do but then decided to try some of the games the dudes on here rave over and think to myself "This game is a pile of sh1te! - These mofos must be slightly tarded!"
Best to get an unlimited 30Mbps iNet connection and try the titles for yaself.. Phuck all the gamesite's reviews and poor taste forum members 2cents worth, with all their performance and Technical problems that I never seem to experience..
yes you are correct he must be smoking crack. and if it was a 680i SLI board he had, that Yorkfield CPU wouldnt be playing ball also, only the Striker extreme allows that CPU to work and only on default settings too as 680i doesnt support Yorkfield.
Was just reading your sig and notice you've got Nivida SLI running on a P35-based motherboard, how on earth did you manage that? I've the same chipset and didn't think it was possible?!
My opinion is that he should've been fired when he reviewed Dark Messiah as a 6.7 (given the nonlinear standard way of ratings), completely missing the fun in that game and focusing on the overpowered boot as the main draw. But yeah I never liked the guy's charisma so I'm probably biased.
On Valleywag, an alleged GameSpot insider has come forward to deliver an anonymous response to musings on the Internet the last few days. One of his comments supports our belief the recent changes in management could be trickling down to GameSpot editorial:
"I was in the meeting where Josh Larson [Executive Editor replacement for now Electronic Arts employee Greg Kasavin] was trying to explain this firing and the guy had absolutely no response to any of the criticisms we were sending his way. He kept dodging the question, saying that there were "multiple instances of tone" in the reviews that he hadn't been happy about, but that wasn't Jeff's problem since we all vet every review. He also implied that "AAA" titles deserved more attention when they were being reviewed, which sounded to all of us that he was implying that they should get higher scores, especially since those titles are usually more highly advertised on our site."
they gave NWN2 a 9 or something around there and that game was a technical disaster, they gave Bioshock a 9 or something around it and that game was fairly lean after the hype of it... and then they give Hellgate London a freaking 7... the best RPG game with multiplayer in years.

I have noticed over the last year or two what seemed like gamespot caving into publisher "fixed" reviews.I'm not at all surprised by this revelation.Just like all the big gaming mags. Its been going on for years.
Cashwh0re reviews Kane & Lynch (sponsored by Eidos Kane & Lynch)
IGN gave it a 7 .... on a scale of 7 out of 10 Good review, Cashwhore is lucky to have this guy he should bring them a lot of money and a lot of eleven out of tens too.
Well this is interesting, somebody at GS allegedly, spoke out. Last paragraph:
"When companies make games as downright contemptible as Kane and Lynch, they deserve to be called on it. I guess you'll have to go to Onion or a smaller site for objective reviews now, because everyone at GS now thinks that if they give a low score to a high-profile game, they'll be shitcanned. Everyone's fucking scared and we're all hoping to get Josh Larson removed from his position because no one trusts him anymore. If that doesn't happen then look for every game to be Game of the Year material at GameSpot."
