To be honest, the numbers provided by Starforce don't impress me much. They say that they used their starforce-protection on 1000 software titles. The number of discs with starforce on it are about 15 million. Simple mathematics reveal that on average every software title consists of only about 15000 discs. With this small average numbers you just can't beat piracy! What Starforce "forgets" to mention is that their super-duper protection has been cracked in the past and will also be cracked in the future. And Starforce sells their customers the big lie that their protection cannot be copied in any way without cracking it first. So if this is true, why do all this working mini-images exist!
There are imo only two truths about starforce. First it takes on average a longer time to crack than the other commercial protections on the market. But this should not be a big problem for us, as we are getting the software for free. The starforce-protection on dvd's is still a problem, but in the long run the cracking groups will also manage to crack it. And it should be noted that in the near future it will probably be possible to make working mini-images of dvd's protected with starforce!
Second , starforce is only a threat to the legitimate consumer and not the pirate. It is known that starforce-protected cd's and dvd's get scratches over time and don't work anymore or that the drives can't even verify a non-scratched disc! The legitimate customer should fight for his rights by speaking with his wallet. So if you want to get rid of starforce, just don't buy titles protected with it.

Don't buy and don't use Starforce protected thing's! give info's to your friends, starforces drivers are constantly active and fu*ck many ressources, the computer run slower as normaly, it's very important by speed run games, starforces convert your PC from P4 to P2. Race gamez are convert to slow races. Manufacterers are cut in their own hand with this shiot . Have fun and use with virtual mini in atemp for a crack. With a crack, no SF drivers are activated.
I meen, if you install a new game, you have not make the request to install shit drivers for your CD Rom drives or burner Or you have no make the request to buy a new dvd rom drive because your actualy work perfect but can not read SF sheisse ? this obligation to can use the soft is in Full illegality from side of manufacterers. don't buy this scheisse !

as far as I know, no, that's not enough, you need to unplug them physically. Just disabling them in the BIOS or the Windows Device Manager is not enough.
At least that's what I read.

Then you'll be dissapointed to know that even with the latest patch, there are still TONS of bugs and missing features, and the developers themselves have said that that was going to be the last patch. So in other words, they're leaving it half finished without fixing it. I know because i bought the game, and i've been an active member of their forums ever since the first game came out. If you're thinking of buying it, DON'T. As a matter of fact, don't even download it either, because it's unfinished and doesn't work properly. Just stay well enough away.
Gigabyte S-Series GA-G33-DS3R, Intel C2D Quad Q6600 OC @ 3.2Ghz, 4gb Kingston PC8500 1066Mhz DDR2, Geforce 7800GTX (will get a 9800GTX when they are released), 2 x 250Gb HD's and a case with built in paper and lotion dispenser.

I removed the IDE cables from both my CD drives, effectively disabling both of them. Now when I start up the game all that happens is the executable "joshua" pops up in the task manager and throws my CPU upto %100 and nothing happens. What's up?

Starforce Nightmare didn't work with me, so I just disconnected the drives. Which is what Starforce Nightmare is attempting to emulate. I *am* using Daemon-Tools.
