Bought a GTO and fully upgraded it and tuned it. I took it to the DRAG KING and beat him extremely easily. Spoiler: | Won his car + $50000 as reward. | They should have made the DRAG KING faster, it was way too easy.

higher downforce = more force pushing down on the car at speed = more grip and faster cornering but slower top speed on straights

Does anybody know of some game guide? Or maybe someone knows which cars are the best for grip/drag/drift/speed ? I saw some suggestions in this thread, but i still would like to see some more.
EDIT : Oh and what about the wind tunnel? For what racing it's better to have more downforce and when the bigger drag would be better? Still cant figure it out. Also sometimes when i autosculpt the front bumper, spoiler and more there is no difference in downforce or drag. WTF? |
Yes awesome game
Play more and you'll figure out what is best for what. For me it comes down to personal preference. Everything works, if you tune them right. Drive with untuned car and see how it feels. Does it over-/understeer, how the braking and grip in corners. Then it comes down to the nitty gritty, where you start tuning your gear ratios, tyre pressures and stuff.
Yes you have to have some knowledge on how to fix something that doesn't feel right and obviously before tuning brakes you need to take ABS off. Same goes for power delivery, you need TC off to get the car sliding (well for that you also nees stability control off)
Wind tunnel is all about drag of the car and amount downfoce it creates. Drag racing despite it's name doesn't need any drag, more slick the car, the faster it goes. (but tyre grip is needed)
Speed racing would be the same, but there are also bends, so a bit more downforce is needed.
Grip racing is all about grip, as the name suggest and if there are fast corners, you'll need downforce to keep it on track. Too much downforce kills your top speed, if you don't have the muscle behind it, but that's not really a problem as races are just coule laps, so its more important to stay on tract than to go 300kmh on straight.
Drifting would be the most challenging to tune, but the engine has a special mode for that, where the tyregrip is reduced, to keep it more simple. Main thing is to have plenty of power to keep the back wheels from not gripping and to have a firm backend, so that the car doesn't roll, but slides.
That should get you started. Every setting has also a brief note on what it does by pressing 2 use them for help. (those are great, can't remember which way is what for every camber and caster my sef wither). You also win some pretuned cars, so use those to help you along. Although they run out of power eventually so own tuning is a must.

I give up. I'm using a 360 controller and this game takes the crown for most unpredictable handling on the face of earth. Car's will nose dive, veer, careen, and just all together act unpredictable - I'm talking about once you get pretty far in the career and have access to the more powerful cars.
Am I the only one who can't keep the damn car on the road during the Speed Challenges? It's like balancing a fucking dog on your elbow. The car want's to pull in random directions but a tap of the stick makes it veer one direction, correcting it makes the car do something unexpected etc.
I guess i just have to calibrate the controller better.

I had the same problem. For many days I tell you. And I've even applied proper deadzones to the controller. The solution that worked for me? EVO IX, fully tuned, and proper suspension & steering settings under Tune. Now the EVO IX is the best handling car I have, period. I've yet to total it in Speed Challenge. It takes every single turn in Speed as smooth as butter.
