Yes,but you can't tilt the guitar and can't use the whammy bar

Could there be a way to play with a gamepad?
Played the demo on the xbox with my wireless controller, but I've would like to use my cordless rumblepad on the pc.

If you dont have a guitar for this game is it even worth getting. If it is, is it worth the $80 i saw it for sale at a local store?
If it's not broke, i can fix it

This seems to improve performance a bit for those having issues.
1.) Find your GH3 directory. Default is C:\Program Files\Aspyr\Guitar Hero III\
2.) Navigate to DATA\ZONES
3.) Back up ALL FILES in this folder.
4.) Find the file "z_viewer.pak.xen". This file is a blank background used for testing.
5.) Make 8 copies of "z_viewer.pak.xen" (Alternately, try using z_soundcheck.pax.xen)
6.) Move/rename/delete the following files:
z_party.pak.xen
z_budokan.pak.xen
z_dive.pak.xen
z_hell.pak.xen
z_prison.pak.xen
z_video.pak.xen
z_wikker.pak.xen
z_artdeco.pak.xen
7.) Rename your copies of z_viewer.pak.xen to replace the deleted files.
8.) Start the game, pick a song. The background should be BLACK, but the note chard and meters will still appear.

I have the receiver and should be getting a 360 Les Paul shortly so i'll report back when i've tried it out.

Game runs fine for me (I've had ONE jutter in the midst of a song) - on the other hand the controls are simply awful and even mapping it on a controller is far from intuitive. You can get competent (particularly on the keyboard) but it's far from idea and it's very painful. It's a nice game though.

Keyboard is fine, learn to play. I have already done almost all songs with 5 stars on medium and started hard.

So did someone find a way with custom songs how to add em,make em etc for this pc version ?

can someone tell me how to map the buttons on my Xbox360 PC controller (not the guitar). by default, buttons are assigned stupid. in options you can only change the keyboard buttons. Thanks.

Anyone here who could provide a savegame (with unlocked songs) for GH3-PC? The cheat-codes are for the birds if you play with a keyboard.

playing this with GuitarHero3v1.0NoDVDFixedexeEng by hatred and working perfectly on my viista with core duo E6750 and 1950pro with wired 360 controller and 2gig of ram. Looks alot sharper than 360 version - probably down to the higher res

You can:
1.Finish the game on medium and buy all the songs in a blow at The Store (if money doesn't reaches all,play HARD).
2.Use the "Unlock All Songs" cheat

Awesome, that was exactly what I thought when I first played it. I was thinking how great it would be to play Vince Neil Exposed Set Me Free!!! Opiate, Stinkfist or Sober by Tool!!! That would rule! Who knows, maybe GH4 for the PC they will release the SDK!!!

I started playing GH2 on easy with a playstation2 and got the hang of it rather fast, didn't finish the easy career I moved to medium and finished it in one night. Then I had a break for a while until GH3 came out and I played with my friends a lot to beat most of expert easily. It's not that hard, I can even do most of them with a keyboard now! (even if it's boring).
Anyway for all those seeking to put custom songs go to http://www.scorehero.com/custom_songs.php . It's a mess to make it work, but I did it and it work great and theres tons and tons or tunes already with good charts there.
