Run every single title to date excluding crisis perfectly at max.
The problem with Crisis is it has no clip plane adjustment slider.
On the MP level Beach for example, standing at the North Korean Mainbase. Facing away from the rest of the island yields 40+ FPS, but as soon as you turn around it renders the entire fucking 50 square fuck miles of island all the way out to the motherfucking carrier.
Is that really necessary? Would be fine if we could set the clip plane to 50-75%...I really don't need to see 50 miles out.

well that would defeat the object of making graphics look real.
What is the fastest quad core on the market anyway?

Gameplay has FAR GREATER importance than graphics (especially multiplayer). What good is seeing a carrier 50 fucking miles out when I can't shoot the guy 10 feet away from me because its running like a slide show? I'd say the guy infront of me with a shotgun takes precedence at that point.
Fuck the graphics..give me my frames.

WTF, there are new ATI drivers out 7.11, but the changelog says nothing about the changes in the Crysis Hotfix. Now I am undecided if I should stay with my Crysis Hotfixed ones or with the new 7.11s...

wow, I actually agree with nakitu here!
if you're serious about playing multiplayer, then reduce the settings. the worse the graphics the less distractions and the better you see the enemies.
like if you got shaders on medium or higher, the trees move in the wind. if you got it on low they don't move, which obviously makes it easier to spot moving enemies.

I guess LCDs with bad interpolation ruined the gamer's expectations.
Because everything looks sucky on most LCDs that is not the native resolution, they try to play everthing with that.
I m playing Crysis on 800x600 on a Viewsonic 19" LCD that interpolates well and has great speed with everything on medium on an Athlon xp-m @2450mhz and it "runs well". I.e. i enjoy it, even though nitpickers would scream about the jaggies (no AA), but i never cared that much about AA anyways (i m not playing screenshots, but rather a dynamic game, where i dont see much of a difference usually).
I played around with the settings till i got a comfortable playing experience without ruining the gfx too much. And i ll replay the game, when i have better hardware next year.
People with uber-systems that complain about not being able to run a game and giving it a bad rep are starting to piss me off more than those guys with their 5 year old shitty pcs that complain about the games being shitty because it s unoptimized

same... I play on 1024x768 on my 1280x1024 native 19" LCD.
I also don't care too much about AA and never had a problem with playing with lower resolutions.
People just have to accept that lowering resolutions might make things look less sharp, but it's also the single most important performance increase that you can get very easily.
An effect that renders at 10 fps at 1600x1200 will render twice as fast at 800x600, so lowering the resolution will let you play with pretty high settings.
I think it's a lot cooler to have great looking effects than having everything look sharp.
I'd rather play 800x600 with high/medium details than 1280x1024 at medium/low.
but yeah, if your LCD doesnt interpolate well, as lutzifer said, you might have some trouble aiming at long distances because the heads start to blur out
I'm getting a 8800 GTS (G92) in december.. can't wait to play on high at 1280x1024, but for now, 1024x768 with medium/high looks pretty good.

Sorry, but I'm too lazy to read 47,000,000 posts, but I have a question. Is there a way to hold the standard machine gun or the sniper rifle still when in zoom mode? Its kinda hard to hit even a stationary target when you sights are moving.
Thanks...

as in all games that add some realism for scoped shots, either crouch or go prone. Both also help to reduce the target-size of your body =)

a good trick that I found is using strength mode. the increased strength apparently helps keep the gun steady. pretty cool :-)

it s also cool to throw your enemies around. Speed-run over to one, shoot him so he stumbles, grab him, change to strenght and BAM, throw him at the next big obstacle of your liking

I figure those people not seeing a performance difference between drastic setting changes are hitting a CPU bottleneck? Check out some of the benchmarks the game responds crazy well to CPU speed, I guess that's why that Cevat guy kept emphasizing it's 50/50 GPU/CPU.

I would say the physics setting. I don't think anyone on the planet should be running Shaders at Very High.

physics is a mixed bag imho. If i remember correctly it affects how much stuff is breakable and how easy it gets broken and so it strains not only the cpu but also the gpu because it has to render more moving particles / objects. Ah fuck it, turn down everything to low and see if i care

at low and 1280x1024, guess it doesn't look that bad ... getting ~25 fps which is playable for me... also runs the same at 1024x768 @ medium but I don't think it looks as good...

id imagine thats down to how you play it. cod4 was 'lamely short' but that doesnt make it a bad title.
on a side note, hahaha, EA finally decided its time for us lowly new zealanders to be allowed to buy the game. my copy was shipped today...
haha oh man, im never buying another fucking game. ive learned my lesson, buying games are for suckers. ill buy movies, but no more paying for games... well maybe 1 or 2, but never ever from EA again.

Yeah , realistic recoil, unrealistic damage. Those losers can take a lot of shots, very frustrating. In the intro video they die instantly.
Crysis makes me sick.

shit on a cat... if the recoil bothers you, use max power to steady your shot.

I dont understand how you play this game if you find a recoil a problem. 95% of my kills are head shoots. Use rifle, mount it with sniper scope, silencer and change fire rate to single bullet and you are ready to go.
