Why bother putting in multi-player if its going to be half assed? 6 maps? 3 of which were like direct ports from SP. Pretty fucking pathetic for a title touted as Grade A. |
Ehhh..... sorry but never heard of custom maps/mods before? Wow where have you been the last....10 yrs or so? Even console games these days ship with very few MP maps just cuz they can add them later via DLC...of course, those are usually charged. Anyways maybe you should take yer head out of the sand and realize there is a community based around making these things much better than the devs wasting their time on them, ya know?

A game should NEVER have to rely on the community for maps/mods to keep it going. Look at how every single BF2/BF2142 mod turned out. In development for 1 or 2 years, people play it for at max 2 weeks and then quit. US Intervention, OPK, that Star Wars Mod - all dead within a few weeks. You're lucky to find more than one server up and populated at any time of day.
Developers should put their blood and sweat into supporting a game, they are the ones getting PAID - not modders.
Nothing wrong with mods/modded maps but they shouldn't be counted on to keep any game going, that's the dev's job. Unless of course they are lazy/don't give a shit.
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

Can somebody tell me how to get past the goddamn tanklevel? I managed to reach the train station like once without getting blown to bits and didn't quite know what to do there except shoot at the train cars which of course led to me being blown up just like the other 12 times i've tried it.
And no, cheets don't work because the godmode is useless here. You do survive but the tank is still kaputt and you can't move and the other cheat i tried is the ai_ignoreplayer, which is the same. the ai ignores me like it's supposed to, just not the tank i'm sitting in.

I played most of the lvl on foot. When you reach train on foot there is tank waitting for you there. Simply go in and shoot cart that blocks youre patch.

Thats exactly why I hate Oblivion with a passion. The Dev's dropped the game off into the palms of the modders to implement lacking features and generally improve their mediocre wanna-be RPG.

mmm oblivion was made for consol. Crysis is exlusive to pc...and on top of that I would like to see you program a game and make it look as good as crysis does. That should put all you bitchers to rest. Until you can do otherwise you should all stfu. And the fact that they give everyone free rein with there sdk and its very easy to use compared to alot of others out there. For an initial release there is alot in this game. The game looks like a fucking epic action sci-fi movie if you have the system to play it.

Well it seams people on this board would rather trash one of the few left PC dev teams rather then be happy that there are still people that care about PC gaming. If you dont like this game go play those crap console ports or better yet buy one and be happy.

Just because they are PC devs doesn't mean they can get away with doing mediocre games. Crysis is a good engine in not much else, while some of the ports are better gameplay and storywise.

No its not good engine its the most advanced engine today and will be so for long time. Gameplay is great ( play delta and you will see) and if you want great story go play rpg or adventure game. What FPS has great story? Name them. They are all lame and if you cant see that well look closer.

Call of Duty 4 had much more interesting story and much better gameplay.
And yes, I have played it on Delta, and guess what, same shit.

So in all years of youre gaming only game that you found that has bettar story is COD 4? You gotta be joking? If you played on Delta then you cant say its same shit because one dude owns you like you are nothing and that by default changes how you play game. You cant run around with cloak because 3-4 hits and you are dead. Are you sure you played on Delta? Oh and COD has story seen million times before.

this excuse is getting f..cking old and it'll only get f..cking older. A complete game nowadays needs a great story too /period/ Graphically the game will soon become outdated (that's progress for ya), but a good story will always remain a good story that'll be remembered.

I'd like some of you to play on low settings and see how much you like it. I got bored extremely fast, I don't even like it as much as the beginning of FarCry.

What excuse are you talking about here? That all FPS have lame story? Or are you typing for sake of it?

this game is little more than a tech demo with mediocre gameplay that you can't see because you are too busy being a gfx whore |
Could you all please calm down and consider the following?
A game is a game.
An opinion about a game is subjective.
Taste in story / presentation is different / subjective.
That being said, i want to reiterate something that i stated before in this thread (and others), that really gets on my nerves.
The "tech-demo" argument.
It wasnt solid, when q3a came out, but still an argument to throw around that had some sense, because the game-play experience was quite different to games before. But please, what merit does it have to shorten your own dislike for a game to an unreasonable factoid like that over and over again, when there is a great looking game, that - most likely - is only used, because you cant play it on very-high settings?
I cant either. Still a damn great game with great gameplay and a high replayabillity-factor and a nice story and good cutscenes (in comparison to Farcry) in my opinion.
So please, can you either tell me any reasonable arguments for your "tech-demo" argument, as i dont see any. With game-engines that have been around for ages and companies that heavily rely on selling their engines to other game-developers i could understand at least part of it, since for example quake and unreal engines are money-cows for their developers. I havent seen any other game with the crytek-engine to date.

Yup, exactly. It is ridiculous how much hatred and wrath is directed at this game, clearly seen in this thread. The "tech-demo" argument is over, at least be original if you are going to criticize something. Get over whatever crawled up your ass that you believe was the cause of this so-called 'tech demo' and play something else. Oh and maybe you should boycott all review sites and mags since obviously they all think different(not that reviews are ways to base a game, but I've never seen a 'tech demo' score one 80% as the lowest review among dozens of reviews).
Oh and the no story argument is retarded as well. Who else remembers wolf3d or doom2 for the plotline? Yet how many times do those games, and game Just like them, appear in everyones top games of all time? If a story is such a huge part of the game, I guess we should toss all the games out of the classics without stories. Hell, might as well never watch the Matrix again or any other action flick ever again, because face it, would you really read the book version without the big massive explosions and special effects? F'in hypocrites.

Alien ship? Or that big crawler? You are talking about that part on ship? If its crawler you need to shoot it until it dies. There are rpgs around and use gauss ammo. If its alien ship then you need to take you the guns first. Then you need to use TAC gun.
