Is it me or are the adepts (and the other classes with the bio power things) pretty rubbish? Why can't I map the powers to buttons damnit!
What do people think? Best class to be?

hmm
I thought you can map powers to buttons?
I'm simultaneously playing the game with a male soldier and a female vanguard and I find the vanguard to be pretty cool. soldier is a little too simple for my taste.
I like the vanguard class, you got some cool biotic powers and can still kick ass with a shotgun.

when you're in the menu where you select which skills to use on what, choose the skill you want and press X to map it to the right bumper button (the same one you hold to use all skills). it seem you can only map one skill, but it's better than nothing.

I noticed the text saying "press X to map" or whatever it says pretty early but never used it. I only tried out what exactly it does when sYn asked about it yesterday.
I'm usually fighting with guns only, reserving my skills for tight situations so I don't use them a lot and never needed to map a skill to a button.

map a power by pressing x, this power is now mapped to the shoulder button. instead of holding down the shoulder button you just tap it to use mapped power.

LOVE the game, nothing more to say. Played it all day, yesterday ( saturday ) played around 12 hours nonstop, with afew breaks in between and i havent even scratched the surface yet.
Did all side quests that i got on Citadel Station and 1 of the mainquests you get afew the beginning and i have around 13hours played.
So i recon there is prob another 10+ hours left to play if you do prob around everything.
I can say hands down, its the best game this year PERIOD.
O, been playing as Adept and its just awsome
Guess i might aswell say, THANKS BIOWARE! <3

Did you find all keepers in citadel? Can you scan the one next to the Alyssa AI? It just says examine and when you try to examine alyssa tells you to leave it alone.

if you're missing just one, chances are it's the one in the docking bay. when you leave the normandy just go left.

Didn't happen to me here but on one of the side quests where you clear a bunch of Rachni things in a mine shaft. As soon as I exited the mine it slowed right down to like 3 fps. I made it back to the Mako though and kept playing as normal. There seem to be a few bugs in the game.. I've gotten stuck in objects and had to load a save. I'm about 25 hours in and out popped the Completionist achievement.. so I guess I'm almost done.

Damn, the more I read about this game the more I wanna give in and buy a 360 just so I can play it!. Hopefully we'll see it on pc soon, but who knows when that'll happen and if.

I'm 90% sure it will be released on PC.
Mass Effect is a huge success, so not porting it would be pretty stupid, and the unreal engine 3 should be easy enough to port as it's not an engine created for the 360.
But yeah, the question remains... how long will it take? It could take 1-3 years :/
I hope that it won't take too long because I want my friends who do not own a 360 to experience this awesome game. Truly one of the best games I've ever played.

Just completed my first playthrough and I must say I'm very very happy with Mass Effect.
Best single player game on any next-gen console so far if you ask me...
I also really loved the ending.. gives you a good closure to this chapter while still giving you an idea of what's to come in mass effect 2.
Can't wait... I hope that now that they got the unreal engine 3 the way they want it and have so many assets they can reuse, the creation of mass effect 2 won't take as long as mass effect 1.

what? that sucks. what were they smoking?
got 9.6 on gametrailers. that's more like it.
Quote: | Possibly the biggest mistake is that the game tries to throw you into that world too heavily too soon. For example, putting you in the confusing labyrinth of the Citadel early in the game doesn't help draw you in at all, with far too many non-plot-based missions offered to your before you've got a real handle of what the main game's all about. |
that's stupid. it's not like he has to start running around collecting side missions when he arrives at the citadel. he could just walk around for 10 seconds, talk to the Virtual intelligence guide and get all the important stuff. then he could just use the rapid transit to go right up to the tower and continue the main story without getting even a single side mission...
Quote: | Where it doesn't quite hit the mark for me is in the action stakes. Although it underpins the game with all sorts of excellent ideas that ought to make it a deeper, more intelligent and immersive experience, the simple truth is that the minute-to-minute combat simply isn't as intense and involving as you'd expect from a game in 2007. |
bah... complaining about the combat not beeing intense enough in an RPG? combat is just a means to an end here and it's awesome combat too for an RPG, it's never been done before.
it seems to me the reviewer was expecting an action game that takes you by the hand and not an RPG full of optional content...
