its a pity we cant smash this game together with oblivion... having played oblivion i find several things in here that are just kinda annoying... at this admittedly early stage im finding some of the battles a bit repetative, and the ability to just go into peoples houses, take whatever you want, then stroll back out again seems a little silly, especially given oblivions thief system... and the moral and merchantile systems in oblivion were great too... theres a lot of great stuff in this game... i never realised just how high oblivion set the bar until now...

one nice touch in this is that you have to learn about things before you can harvest them, unlike oblivion where you just willy nilly strolled through the forrest, grabbing shit and stuffing it into your pockets Very Happy

yeah... smashing those two games together would make something really amazing... but as it is, this is easily the best of the 4-game-download-spree i had...

getting a bit more into the game and liking it more and more... it still bugs me that theres not as much world interactivity as oblivion, but that still doesnt make it any less fun... recorded the vid of the last mission i did, and youtoobed it:

if oblivion had zero scaling monsters u could maybe compare it with witcher in the same ballpark =p the fact u could pretty much do the mainquest at level 2 in oblivion totally destroyed the experience for me, including immersion/fun factor.

Witcher has very little to complain about, alchemy and inventory is somewhat poor in how they were implemented but they do their job. Was level 39 when i finished the game and really felt like a "strong" witcher, could decimate monsters and the fun was there all the time.

The way they limited the movement areas in places like the swamp were abit annoying but im sure it shortened the development time of the game and thus gave us access to ze game faster. A huge hats off to the polish writers as well for making realistic dialogue with proper adult language, not just some bedside story writing but real movie style talk with cursing !

Morrowind/Gothic/Witcher top 3 of my 3D first person style RPG's of all time for sure.

Good news.. patch 1.2 should be out before some time before christmas and according to the developers, it will will feature the usual bug and balances fixes as well as the most important thing... shorter loading/saving times!

Wow I sure hope those loading and saving times get a lot faster. quicksaving puts me to sleep. and loading 10 seconds just to get into a 4m² hut sucks ass, with of course even more loading coming up as soon as you leave 5 seconds later.

yeah that is a bit rediculous there isnt some kind of caching system happening in the game where it remembers where you just came from... it doesnt have to remember everywhere or anything, just remember the LAST flamin place!!

Thats some great news.

I don't care if i have to wait once in a while, but in city's it kinda takes the joy away and gets frustrating.

Yup good news indeed. Even tho there are a bunch of other great games I am playing while waiting for this patch to come, I am totally having 'witcher withdrawals'....can't wait till they patch this baby and I can get back into the story Twisted Evil

bloody well better. a company should know better than to have savegame compatability issues with an update in a bloody rpg given that they know full well how long it takes to complete one.

most recent RPG to fuck the customers with patches that made your saves obsolete: Two worlds. And on top of it, the patches didnt do a thing for the most fucked up parts in two of the story-lines...

yeah read a page or so back... ive NEVER played a clone before, always avoided them because i like the 'crack' simplicity, but this game sounded so good i gave it a shot... and after a few mistakes with that really demoralising 'please insert disc' crap coming up constantly, i finally got it sorted... no disconnected drives or anything just daemon tools. fricken sweet man Very Happy

where i went wrong, is that id made an scsi virtual drive because i didnt know the difference or the relivance and thats what was screwing me up, but i made an ide one and was away laughing.
