OK, I get crap performance (15fps!) at times making it unplayable, My specs are:
Intel C2Q6600 @ 2.40Ghz
2Gig DDR2 667Mhz RAM
EVGA 8800GTS KO 320MB @ 1280x1024 (163.75)
Windows Vista HP, all latest updates
2.2tb hard disks

The problem only seems to happen when the smoke effects are on screen, other times game runs fluidly 70+FPS but these frame drops make the game unplayable,

Any ideas?

Nick

You could try the newest beta drivers from nvidia. That might help you a bit.

I uninstalled and reinstalled and set everything to defaults and the game still crashes on me... It even keeps past games but doesn't say where it keeps them...

I keep getting a runtime error of R6025 - pure virtual function call

I checked out this error but couldn't find anything to the poing of fixing it...

I have no issues launching the game and playing - framerate is fine, no audio stuttering, etc. But my issues is with the controls. I am using a keyboard and mouse and every 10 seconds or so the character will spin madly around for a few seconds and then stops - making the game essentailly unplayable. Even if I am not touching either the mouse or keyboard and just let it sit it does the same thing. I remember having this problem in some other really old games when I HAD a joystick plugged in. This is a new machine which has never had a joystick installed. Running on Vista 32bit with 4GB Ram and a GTS 8800.

Thanks for any helpful input...

I resolved the sound issue by setting hardware acceleration in control panel to "basic". Then, the game lets you select software sound.

However, I also have a weird stuttering issue. Every 2-3 seconds the game pauses for an instant. It occurs everywhere, even in the menus, changing graphics settings to the lowest possible has no effect. Anyone else experiencing this?
