*Shrugs* Don't really care to tell you the truth. I'll be disappointed if there's not many people online once I buy the game, but I couldn't care less for whatever reasons others are whining. As I've said, some of the things mentioned are laughable, by my standards at least. You can say they're low, but that's merely a good thing for me, as I don't get disappointed that easily and can enjoy more games for a longer period.

EDIT: As not to seem overentusiastic and be called an NFS/EA fanboi, there are flaws too, of course. Sector Shootout has a stupid scoring system as the user above me said and the reviews mention it. It should just be a "have the best time in the most sectors", however you have to beat the "score" the best racer in front of you has set.

As you start last, it's ridiculous how the first racer can get points in the first lap from all 4 sectors just because he's first in the starting line, and then if you can't beat his time, you get 0 points for that sector. Even if after the first lap finishes you have 3 out of 4 sectors, the first racer will still have more points than you.

There are two ways as I see it to fix it, but I think that as it is now part of the engine and core gameplay, it can't be fixed. First way is to overhaul the scoring system and replace it with "who has the best time in the most sectors" system, and the second way is for points on the first lap to be awarded only after the first lap has been finished, to the players that have each sector at that moment.

Weird thing though happened first time I played the game, while using the Vitality crack. I don't know what went wrong. In the middle of the game, it freezes and soon closes with the usual "error report" dialog on nfs.exe. When I click Close and open My Computer, all devices connected to the Intel Controller (1 SATAII disk, 2 IDE DVD-ROM/RW devices) had disappeared. The System log in the event viewer was full of errors. First it had repeated read errors on "DR0", and then it said that the Primary, Secondary and Standard Dual Channel IDE controllers had all disconnected themselves. Actually...

"The device 'Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller' (PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2363&SUBSYS_B0001458&REV_02\4&24c54f4f&0&00E3) disappeared from the system without first being prepared for removal."

That's only one of the errors. I don't know if it's an issue with the Vitality crack or something. Next time I started the game, again with the Vitality crack, it froze during the introductory race.

I replaced the cracked EXE with the original and used DT4.06 and YASU and I didn't have any problems. However the first one was really fucking weird. I mean, the whole IDE controller got screwed up.

Anyone else having problems with controls?
Right arrow key seems to be stuck in this game, so I can't do shit in the menus.

Heh, the last 5 NFS games or so all suffered from dreadfully unrealistic AI.

The AI seemed to do something like this:

are you winning? --> AI starts to drive faster than their cars should be able to do
are you losing? --> AI slows down (except later in the game where they keep racing)

are you winning but the AI's car is out of view? --> AI drives spotlessly, very fast, and can somehow take corners without slowing down (can be seen on the minimap)

On top of that, the AI crashes LOADS when in your view. It's so easy to make AI cars crash but of course, the second they're out of view, they suddenly are able to recover and come flying at you again at twice their normal top speed. Yet despite crashing loads inside your view, they NEVER EVER EVER crash when not in your view.

Now, this is the perfect example of horrible AI and NFS is a mainstream crappy racing game for people who don't know what a real game is about. Arcade or not, an AI that is a real joke and cheats is never fun.

Do you know if this is still the case in Prostreet? Because this "rubberband AI" was the reason I stopped playing Most Wanted and never bothered to check Carbon. Would be a shame if they still didn't learn.

Dodgy game, installed the RLD crack, started to play the game and the framerate randomly dips and the car seems to automatically swing from left to right when going fast and the green arrows just drive me crazy and it's like the car automatically follows the arrows, even turning the assist level to 'KING' so i get 'raw power of the car' the game seems to still be playing with all the assists on.

Madness?!?

In the demo ABS, TC and SM are on with king mode, I heard that they could be turned off in the full version...

That's true Kamikaze. I'm having no such problems as the ones Rezident has mentioned with the mini-image and DT4.06/YASU. Maybe those are the performance issues Vitality was talking about.

@cykbryk: Any miscalibrated controllers connected?

You can tune the steering. You have to buy an aftermarket suspension pack though, if I remember correctly.

Read the read me peeps, so many of you are asking stupid guestions Sad Anyways you can turn all driving aids off
http://img186.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=74429_nfs.exe_0__122_206lo.jpg

I'm with Leftos, this is turning out to be a great game. Made my own offline grip event and played around it a bit, enjoyed just driving with Chevelle SS. Don't know what game you others have been playing.

But press 2 (green arrows off), then King obviously (gameplay, assists) and then all aids off (gameplay, mode options) and it's alot better than many NFS'es combined. Didn't even win the career first race with 2 tries (with above options) : o

Oh and great alt+tab, upped pics and have browsed this thread for a while, game running with 50% sage and 530MB in backround

Those who like circuit racing and porsche this is for you, give it a try, don't believe others. And don't start with the career first, it's the suckies handling card from the 3 I've driven so far (yes I know I just started Razz) Now back to the game.

edit: and those who have the automatic braking still with king, someone had it in the demo too earlier in this thread. Installed on another machine and it worked fine. May need a patch, sorry can't help more, but it's not supposed to help you at all. Infact first sharp corner and I drove to wall going too fast Smile

their trainers are customized for each individual, so they can track who shared it before the actual release, so nobody is going to be stupid enough to risk their account, and its not like 11€/year is alot.. i sure didnt regret it Very Happy

Paying for beta trainers that work properly only half the time, crash the game in the other half, and by the time they are fixed, they are free already or a better alternative is already out.

Sure, makes sense... Rolling Eyes

Those with bad lookind screenshots, did you have the default triliner filtering on? First picture is with anistropic filtering enabled in game (8xHQ AF in drivers) 1280x1024, 2xAA, low shadows (yes they look bad, but GPU can't handle more), medium world FX, rest maxed. FPS counter in top, might run a bit better than the demo, no stuttering for me, mostly constant 30FPS. Rest of the pictures are the cars tuning possibilities Wink

I use my G25 wheel to play with, and the game got great forcefeedback effects.
To bad it runs at ~5-20 fps with 640x480 and everything @ low/off
