I played bioshock for 2 hours and then returned back to titan quest... I know this is just me. I was hyped and thought it would be awesome but my tastes are not so mainstream. I might give it another go when I get bored from COD 4, TF 2, etc. Very Happy

GOTY FPS (gameplay , fun factor): COD 4
GOTY FPS (The longest and awesome time manipulating FPS in years) : Timeshift
GOTY RPG (Story , gameplay) : The Witcher
GOTY FPS/RPG (Story , gameplay) : S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
GOTY MMORPG (SP is nice but it a bloody MMo kiddis and this game turns into a gem when you play with others): Hellgate London
GOTY RTS : Supreme Commander

GoW - Its a crap port that can be finished in one siting (if some one play games 7h non-stop) if not then you are fraked because this game deletes your saves
Crysis - it has only graphics , no fun factor thats crap in my book
Bioshock - it would be , if it weren't a console rip off of System Shock 2 with new theme
Orange Box(or maybe each title separate) - THiS pack is crap , only Portal was great
Unreal tournament 3 - didn't play it yet , wait for the english version not the one from the land of the green blood
Assasin's Creed(GOTY in general) - maybe in 2008 dude
Enemy Territory: Quake Wars - crap game , Q3 is still better that this frag kiddie fest
Medieval II: Total War Kingdoms - didn;t play it yet

Bio shock, ET QW and UT 3 are awful.

ET QW and UT 3 are such sad attempts when compared to quake 3 and tribes. it's like the whole world has lost it and no one wants to make fun multiplayer shooters anymore.

TF 2 is a fun multiplayer. It's only downside imo i't's the content; only 6 maps. Still worthy a try as well as a hook. Wink

S.T.A.L.K.E.R for sure, no game this year came close imo..

Mario Galaxy seems great but i dont own a Wii.. loved Mario64 and this seems almost (but not quite) as good.

Biggest letdown: Bioshock.. nice gfx and sound (like most new FPS's) but very average gameplay.

Portal, The Witcher and HL2:EP2 imo.

Biggest letdown: S.T.A.L.K.E.R, not that i liked bioshock that much either.

Orange Box, so much bang for the buck.

mm don't think orange box could classify as a game cause it's just a pack of games. I mean ya for those who liked the games it was awesome but I think the games seperatly should be judged.

I agree with you, but a lot of reviews are actually for the entire orange box instead of each game. At least as i recall, who knows maybe i'm talking out of my ass.

Nothing has jumped out and grabbed me this year. Prolly had the most fun with Crysis, Bioshock and Football Manager.

Been an awful year for MMO's with dates slipping back and games not living up to the hype. *fingers crossed* next year will be ok and conan or warhammer will deliver.

Might of said Mario Galaxy if had a chance to play it yet, sounds fantastic..

Hard choice because none of the titles I liked the most came flawlessly out-of-the-box.

RPG of the year: The Witcher
Runner Up - Gothic III / Jade Empire SE
FPS: S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
Runner Up - GoW / Timeshift
Action: Overlord
Runner Up - TRaider:Anniversary
RTS: World in Conflict
Runner Up - Supreme Commander
Sports: Pro Evolution Soccer 2008
Runner Up: FIFA 2007(getting closer)
Adventure: Haven't played any yet (Sam&Max/Broken Sword/Penumbra?).

Expansion: CoH: Opposing Fronts

Overall surprise of the year: Portal
Dissapointment: Bioshock

Now, I did like Bioshock, but it's one of those games where the sum of the parts is better than each one. As a FPS, it becomes less frenetic as the times passes, even with the plasmids. The weapons are not particularly memorable and the only relevant fights are the ones against the Big Daddies. As RPG-lite, there is only one moral decision (well, two considering Cohen) but the benefits of the "bad" choice are so contrite, that it becomes irrelevant. Also, all the girls/BD look and act pretty much the same, so after 3-4 appearances, the impact just wear off. The last mission and boss felt as if the team didn't have a clear idea of what to do. It played the same regardless if you were "good" or "bad" and the final cinematics were bland in general. The ambientation, sound and characters on the other hand, were top notch.

The Witcher had almost every element to reach a GotY level, but they really dropped the ball with the fighting scheme, the not-so-impressive Sign powers and lack of weapons/clothing customization.

STALKER was far too buggy to be considered (same than G3). And a lot of features were dropped from the original concept. Still, was really really good.

So, will leave that title empty for now. But it certainly was good to be a PC gamer this year.

STALKER hands down was the best game 2007. loved it and cant wait to see more.

Bioshock wins the coveted "biggest ripoff by hype" award.
World in Conflict gets an honorable mention in kick ass multiplayer.
Hellgate is also good but not a award contender this year.
Orange Box is good, but dont buy it for your main multiplayer game... TF2 is sooo! 2003.

Game Of the year : Crysis

Without a doubt. Amazing.

And whether the bashers hate it or not, it will still win GOTY.

Portal, no doubt!

best game I played for years... Felt like playing super mario for the first time...
such a great game!

crysis is great, too - but it´s "only" a pimped far cry. well, i liked that, too.

CoD 4 ?! BORING... hate those shooters on rails!
HL2 E2?! what i said...
Bioshock? deleted after 2 hours - boring as hell...

I didn´t play stalker, so no idea... neither did i try the witcher - maybe i`ll check this one out later...

So which in your opinion is going to be G.O.T.Y. for 2007?

I will name a few:

Crysis
Bioshock
COD 4
GoW
The Witcher
Orange Box(or maybe each title separate)
Unreal tournament 3
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
Supreme Commander
Hellgate London
Assasin's Creed(GOTY in general)
Timeshift
Enemy Territory: Quake Wars
Medieval II: Total War Kingdoms

My vote(s) go to these:
Crysis
Bioshock
COD 4
Orange Box(if taken as one game...)
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

I don't think Unreal 3 will be there, neither ET:QW. Assasin's Creed is another story but I put it here because it looks grat. Very Happy

Unlike to what I listed above that I believe will compete for the prize, my GOTY goes to....
Team Fortress 2!!! Very Happy
Yeah, this game is serious fun, it has strategies, it has all the unique type of classes everyone looks for, and it's addicting.

mine would be
single player
1.Crysis ,pitty about the MP though
2.Bioshock , this one should have been my number one but it is just system shock 2 with a new paint job and made way to easy so a blind chimp with one hand could complete it on hard.
3.COD4 , still needs improvement on the AI and interaction side
4.S.T.A.L.K.E.R poor story line and buggy
5. HL EP2 , to much of the same puzzle solving as hl2 and ep1 and 10 minutes of free roaming at the end was not enough.

MP
1. ET Quake Wars
2.COD4
3.TF2...where are the maps ?
4.Gears of war.... just for the CO-OP
5.World in conflict

Without splitting it into categories it must be PORTAL, hands down. The thing that worries me is that it wasnt even long and began pretty shitty. But the feeling of achievement and immersion hasnt been there for years in other games like i felt with portal. It was like being n00bified with gaming-joy.

Cod4
but the game i put the most hours in on this year was
pro evolution soccer 6 played it every day online so i guess really my game of the year should be pes6.
Depends how you class it surely the game you have clocked the most hours enjoying should be your GOTY.

If you nominate an rpg your a no life brain dead tard imo.
Rpg fanboys should be culled at birth.
