I have a legit copy and it has the same problem.... Weird thing is sometimes they get deleted and sometimes they dont. Someone mentioned before about restarting their computer and losing them. Well sometimes I reboot and they are still there and sometimes they disappear after reboot.

i had the save problem at first till i realised u have to log into the same live account before ur saves appear. worked fine after i realised that. have to log in each time. just thought i would mention that incase anyone doesnt know. ive completed it through and it worked fine for me. no problems at all.

What i did is..
1.Uninstall game
2.Disconnect from internet
3.Install a program that fixes some windows update shitty stuff and some other things
4.Reboot
5.Install the game
6.Still no internet,start the game
7.Press F1 to make the profile,unless the game already asks ya
8.Config your stuff,it SHOULD LET YOU ESCAPE FROM THE MENUS
9.Play the game
In case of error of gwar4live thingy,move it to a side that doesn't annoys ya and ALT+TAB,keep having fun
btw,exitted the game once and checkpoints are still there
Using RELOADED release..coz for i am spanish

Can you explain better please? I have been always logged with the same offline live account or do i have each time to logout and login again?.

Every time I start the game I get the usual prompt to press F1 to log into my account (The "No account logged in" message under the main menu exit button), haven't had any problems with saves being deleted yet but I'm not that far into the game.

Thats doesnt matter... I have my live account automatically logged into when I start the game and the checkpoints/gamesaves have still been gone. There has to be a glitch with the way that the game closes.

Actually my folder in there was empty. I have a bunch in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Gears of War\ -> Forgot the rest of the path but i have like 38 save files in there. Not sure if those are what are needed but i backed them up anyways just in case.

nope, those files are all empty as well, I searched every folder looking for them but don't seem to exist. I backed up the ones in the checkpoint install folder and replaced them and did nothing |

you guys tried looking in here ? ...\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\XLive
Theres some stuff plus those icons u use for offline accounts so one of the files may be saved checkpoints.

What a pile of unfinished shit!!! I have a P4 3 gig with a BFG 7800 GT OC and 2 gigs of DDR 2 OCZ Ram Audigy 2 sound card....I know my comp is low end...but WTF...Crysis looks great and COD 4 is even better...I have tried every setting and fix for this peice of shit with NO luck. Now it won't even start....runtime error....I re-installed it and it worked again....I rebooted and now I get the runtime error again...What do they want me to do....never stop the game????? I cna't believe I bought this pile of crap!!!!!! There isn't even any good support at EPIC.....they want my DXiag so I sent them that.....No response....they can go fuck themselves....waste of cash!!!!!

you should read this thread before buying it lol. It's not even worth playing yet till they patch it cause your just going to have to play through it 4 times before you can finally get to the end the way it's deleting saves. |

finished it on my shitty system and apart from the fucked up boss-battle at the end, i loved it. Apart from some stuttering here and there i had no errors, no crashes, everything ran like it should. i can understand why people loved it on the xbox.

Anyone had luck figuring out how to get out of the graphics settings or create an account? I click to create an account and it makes a noise but nothing comes up. I enter graphics settings and cannot exit (have to force close with alt-f4).
This is 1911 release tried both cracks (reloaded, 1911). Also tried with no internet with same results.

Why do you all bash this game? It works flawless here, im almost at the end. Its mediocre at best like most of 1337 console games but it works normal. Could it be that you have problems with youre windows settings or fucked up system files? Never lost any saves , not a single crash,normal audio, nothing wrong with it.

No im not turning into cocky prick i simply dont like LeoNatans trolling. That message was meant for him. One thing i dont get is why would game del. saves for some and not for others. Could it be because of wrong user settings in windows or AV you use. I would check that first before thinking its the game. Anyway game is repetitive on rail shooter so no loss in not playing it. For all who have problems with games i would do this. Make new install of windows and keep it basic. Dont install anything on it except drivers and dx. So when some game doesnt work on youre normal win. install simply boot to clean one and see if game works. You only need 1gb for win. install. It would ge good to do that so you can see if its games fault or some crap you have installed in windows. |
it's a random bug in the game, the patch comming out for it is supposed to fix it. |

but when gow is started the game does an outgoing to internet
just block it with your firewall
My game still runs like it supposed to, no missing save or anything
