I'm not saying it's a bad game as I'm playing it now and I don't play shit, but to pretend it's remotely the best thing that pc gaming has ever seen is pure ridiculous.
I also didn't like HL2 and it was over rated, I have nothing against BF3 or anything in teh series since I even owned and loved 1942. So your grabbing a lot of assumptions of calling me a kid when your no better yourself.
And since you edited your post while I was typing, yes, COD4 is the best FPS we've gotten this year next to timeshift and maybe SOF 3 if it doesn't suck
Anywho, back to playing something that requires the slightest thought or use of my brain. |
You have got to be kidding ,dont get me wrong crysis has it flaws and it kind of lost me with the shinny aliens, if I wanted to play shit like that i will buy halo. But COD4 as GOTY bollocks, again a good game but on rails and the AI is 100% dumber in COD4 than crysis and gears of war put together(maybe you should play it on delta rather than easy), and the short thing finished COD4 in half the time it took me to play crysis, what ever your smoking I will have an quater must be good shit, Where your perchance sitting on top of one of those trees I shot down as you seem to have banged your head a little on the way down.
Granted the hype surrounding games like Crysis and Bioshock was way over the top, but hype does not make a game bad does it ?,
so crysis is longer, prettier, has a better engine, more freedom, more weapons, more veichles etc.. crysis is a 9/10 COD4 is 8.5/10 both good games which cant be denied, only a fool would argue so ? at the moment I would say for Single player GOTY 1.Crysis,2.Bioshock,3.COD4 all three ripp off their predecesors in a big way but also raise the bar for gaming

Nonsense am i a troll, i hit the nail on the head he hunted for the shittiest pic he could find because his rig isn't good enough.
Nit picking because most people can't max it so they slate it and compare it to farcry which is just plain ridiculous.
The same people will be crying this is the best game ever when they can run this on the unlocked settings smoothly with 16xaa.

He wasn't slating or comparing it shit. Clipping isn't anything to do without good your video card is. It's caused by a buggy engine. He wasn't hunting for shit. So what he posted a picture of some clipping issues, you going to take him to court now cause your such a fanboy?
We can nit pick all we want. Not our fault the game is nothing more than a generic shooter.

It's better than anything else this year apart from cod4 end of story.
Fanboy my ass i knew exactly what it would be like from the multiplayer beta which was and is great fun anything but generic.
Imagine the mods that will come for this it's crying out for a predator mod a vietnam mod this game is great and will live on for a long time to come and i look forward to everyone eating their words a year from now.

Bioshock 3rd
games are about having fun playing not playing to find bugs and look for things like that to complain about i am having more fun playing crysis & cod4 than playing bioshock.
Anyone who has crysis is going to play it through to the end and if they say they aren't they are lying through their teeth and how many games can you say you wanted to play through til the end in the last 5 years.

I think it's pretty good, definitely not GOTY material, my vote goes for Witcher.
I haven't seen any other game except Red Faction with such destructable environment, it seems you can destroy pretty much everything, i threw a grenade down from a watchtower(due to the extremely dumb ai all the enemies just ran under the tower i was in and stood there shouting something) the explosion knocked the whole tower down killing me with it, only the buildings where you have missions seem to be indestructable.
The graphics are pretty good, nothing special, then again my computer cant run it at all high settings, the AI on the other hand is horrible. I think Crysis is still a game worth going through.
I haven't played COD4 yet, but i hated Cod 1,2 and 3, i thought all of them were the simplest fps games possible with just a line of scripted events in a boring WW2 setting, might have to try CoD4 later on, but currently im waiting for Soldier of Fortune 3.

What do you care what I play? So by the laws of idiocy people who think a game is crap apparently can't and is not aloud to play it.
anywho, bored of arguing with idiots.
Think I ran into a game bug, just destroyed the the two tanks, is there supposed to be a new objective that pops up or something? Nothing is happening. Says I did the objective but that's it. |

The problem is, there are actually so many (good) shooters out there - and more to come, SoF3 and UT3 - its a pure action overdose. Is the Crysis experience really so "unique", is there that huge difference compared to... TimeShift, HL2Ep2, CoD4, Jericho, Gears of War... ?
I am honest, I have to skip Crysis, my machine is too slow to run it with acceptable fps (Athlon 64 3200, 1,5 gig ram, 7900gt) but I dont care, since there is enough action stuff out there and I will give Crysis a new try next year with new hardware.
On the other hand, how many good RPGs have been there in recent times? Almost everything was a disppointment... unplayable buggy and monotonous Gothic3, TwoWorlds with its far too easy difficulty grade and its rushed ending etc., OK, the add-ons for Oblivion and NWN2 were good (but only add-ons), but really delivering what was promised is only "The Witcher".
Bioshock with its shooter/RPG combo wasnt without minor problems, but also unique in its perfect story-telling way and atmosphere.
So, regarding the "GOTY" question: I would nominate none of the generic shooters, not even the good ones (HL2-Episode2, TimeShift, CoD4), because they dont offer something really new or unique.
My GOTYs are Witcher and Bioshock.

COD4's strengh is purely its package, awesome Singleplayer combined with the most addictive multiplayer ever... Crysis' multiplayer is rather dull and non-inspiring.

WHAT?! I just found a fixed .exe file for the witcher, it says russian but it might work

what about the orange box? portal was something new and fun most everyone enjoyed. episode 2 was ok. and I havnt played tf2 yet but i heard it was very addicting.
that RTS game world in conflict or wahtever will probably end up being GOTY, i never played it but it seems the RTS genre was amazed

umm I'd just like to say one or two things..
I played around with this game for a bit attempting to get it to run smooth on my setup, and I do have a fairly decent setup... I am running Vista, and yes in DX9 I get the same FPS I get in Windows XP, but the thing is DX10 looks near the same. I turned AA all the way up to 16xQ either, it doesn't work, or theres an FPS limiter buried in DX10 because I get the same damn FPS I do without it even on. Same goes for resolution little to no difference there, MAYBE just 1 FPS drop all the way up at the 1900 res I had the game on... Whats funny to note here is EVERY DX10 game that pops up is the same, Gears of War is a great example. It an option you can either enable DX10 with AA, or just enable it without AA. The game looks the same in DX10 mode as it does in DX9 mode, yet it runs slower. This can be seen in several games, DX10 suppose to be better? What happens don't make any sense... I could understand if the changes were drastic but seriously they aren't.
I got another problem here. 25 FPS under DX9 with the XP Very High Tweak that is going around, well in DX10 25 FPS feels like 10-15 FPS. Granted I get up to 50 something FPS even with the very high option on but if I am pushing AA on and the res which do effect the DX9 version unlike the DX10 version what remains at the same FPS no matter what you change I get around 22-30 FPS, and when its running at the lowest it can in those big fire fights, the game still seems to be smoother, then DX10 at those same frames...
I am running 4GB of RAM, and I have pretty much what I'd consider a great system... I won't go into details but rest assured I have an awesome system, that should deliever the same effects that we all seen. We seen the game running in DX10 mode at E3, we had people post on blogs at how they'd been and played the game at different events, and how awesome it ran at CES on just one 8800 GTX in DX10 mode, why doesn't it run at that now? Something is ultra fishy, and I'd really like to find some answers...
Onto the MP, it'd be great except its to bothersome to attempt to play because in DX10 your still running at that slow FPS, and its unbearable at times, and you end up dieing. Bottom line is seeing my FPS run that slow after all these stupid promises that were made, and the things we got to see, I feel pretty turned off to even playing the damn game. What makes me madder is the game doesn't even look like it did originally, it can be made to look like that SURE, but it doesn't look like that out of the box, and it runs like ass...
