|
 |
I remember a few months ago, almost all nfo's I was searching for, were in the database. Now, I see the message "No such nfo" more and more, annoying. Was there a database loss or some cataclysm ?

it s because the nfo-updater-team is only one man at the moment. At least thats what i think i read in one of the threads somewhere.
And there was a database problem a year or so ago, where some months worth of nfos where lost too.

There shouldn't be more than a few 100 missing out of 115k nfos. Can you give some examples?

I think it´s okay, not every NFO has to be listed public. There are already way too much. I bet NFO Spamming would dramatically reduce if you would close down those fucked up rented trader boxes all over the globe lol. You know the Scene isnt about to be exploited in public.
Those busts are partially the groups fault and on the other hand the doings of those nfo and p2p portal sites. Used together they make a reliable source for every lamer looking to download some files but also for law enforcement/developer companies to check at which date a release was being made availaible. Heck, even Techsites like Winfuture start reporting when a Major Release is being out early. (Lately on Crysis). It´s time to stop that.

@ Rinze
I think only you and Lutzifer understand what I mean.
Actually, it's hard to find ANY old nfo's. Another example is SHOCKISO releases. No nfo for anything.

I just clicked nearly all shockiso releases, and they all have nfos.
Could you try refreshing after it fails? I suspect the caching system isn't generating the nfos fast enough when you pick an nfo that hasn't been viewed in a while, so you get an error.

Yes, you are probably correct. Today most SHOCKISO nfo's load for me. Not all , obviously the ones you viewed ! And I guess you didn't view any Mage nfo's cause they don't load.
(No such nfo...)
And it is not browser-related, I tested with Firefox and IE7. Also, refreshing doesn't work.

Fixed (only the clean nfos weren't being generated properly, the blue nfos were fine)
