What The. How powerful a machine do you need for this Beast. I have a Dual Core 5000+, 2Gig Ram, 8600 GTX with 512mb and it is aweful.

What are the developers thinking these days.

Your problem lies with your GPU.

I do not wish to insult you; but what you are saying about your rig doesn't fill me with confidence that you configured things correctly. I presume when you said you have an '8600 GTX' you meant either an 8800 GTS or an 8800 GTX the latter i doubt as 512mb version is not in existence, along with the '8600 GTX'.

If you have indeed got an 8800 GTS, this card does not provide the full functions to run Crysis at smooth frame rates. It simply doesn't have the clock speed Wink.

Crysis is indeed as 'next gen' as possible at the current time, and IMO was designed and created for the purpose of being one of the first games to visually stand its ground against the dating of graphical advances. It will still look great several years from now; 'benchmark' if you like.

In other words, "your card sux0rs!" Smile (Well in actual fact, it doesn't, but neither does it have the capability of running Crysis on high rates.)

After giving it 3 hours of playing i decided to give my opinion on the game up to what i have seen since i have whined about the performance of the demo. I have to say at start that the game i am comparing it to in my mind is cod4.

So i'll make 2 sections Sound/GFX and gameplay/game depth

1) Sound is easier to describe.Nothing extreme.Well placed sfx but no notable music score.I liked that you can choose a female or male voice for the suit since i like female control sounds from my c&c days and E.V.A.
GFX is the strongest part of this game but also it's downfall imho. You can put on everything on very high +antialising +high resolution and get an incredible looking slideshow since even on v good gfx cards it brings your system down. I can understand Crytek wanted to give something very different from what we have seen in gfx with this game and they made it work. But they forgot it's a game and ppl want to actually roll through it and not just take pretty screenshots.
I am sure there are fanbois out there who will claim it worx great on their machines but i don't get how that helps since ppl will d/l this game and just get disappointed on the performance.


2) As for gameplay i am so disappointed in this judging only from a portion of sp and no mp.

Free roaming ? Yeah sure i can free roam and find bands of koreans almost every 1 km but so what ? I still have to do the objectives secondary or primary in order to progress through the actual game.Yeah riding a boat when you don't have to and going on around is fun but that's for like 10 mins ?

A.I ? Poor imho but i am not too fussed cause other games i like didnt have good one as well.

Fighting ? You seem either too weak or way too powerful at times never really balanced though.There isn't a single game where humans could take 3 headshots and yet it happens here.I really like that you can kill em with different ways so all is not lost but still it will never be hitman or something like that in those ways(not comparing here just pointing) .

Objectives are nice varying from retrieving data from pcs or disabling machines to good old killing stuff.

It has a lot of action since the enemies call for help quite often and you end up having to kill the ones you pulled + all the adds (mmorpg terms ftw Razz) but adds most of the time seem to come from nowhere which is funny since many "crysis" zealots cried about spawning enemies in other games.

Overall it's a decent fps better than jericho and timeshift maybe even ep2 but again imho classes below cod4. It just doesn't take you in.It doesn't make you relate to your avatar and scream DIE MOFO DIE! to the enemies (and yes my wife and kid always come running to see what's wrong with dad when i do that Razz ). I would personally give it a 8/10 which can easily change when cool mods get out and the fan base gives us hundreds of hours more gameplay.

PS. If you wanna flame this at least show half a brain and give valid reasoning other than l2p nub and stuff like that.

Im with you, really.

To me, it seems they focused nearly all damn energy on the engine and graphics, and then the rest of the time they had left on gameplay.

The game looks awesome, no-one can argue with that. It will look awesome one year from now too, i believe. But as a game in a whole, its not a perfect game by far.

Now, really, it doesnt matter what i say, it will get 9/10-ish scores all around i guess, and 80% of the forum will probably bash me, or just plain ignore it.

Yeah watergem and sin i agree that this is a great benchmark and by all means the gfx with everything on is like watching a very cool nvidia demo.It will probably stand out even a year from now as good graphics but that's just not enough for me.Don't get me wrong i am a gfx sucker as much as the next guy but i like everything with at least a little balance in my life Wink

OK so Directx10 sucks in Vista for this game...so what the hell is vista good for, for Aero and dreamscape...Vista is so not a gaming OS yet...wondering if I should remove vista altogether,and put back XP SP2...

Wow this game is ugly on medium quality, compared to bioshock and gears of war and the others. MUCH uglier. Ohh well this engine seems just ok after all. I mean if those pictures made on medium quality, its soo empty and textures are ... "dead" to me. But i check nontheless, maybe I can run it on higher quality. Bioshock and rest runs on med-high quality with 30-40fps for me.

/me turns to the unreal engine 3 games with anticipation.

uh..nothing? Just stating that given my....cowering outdated video card I'm still getting good framerates, game is well optimized. especially after turning water on low lol

also, game supports gamepads, controls are actually quite good on default for the 360 pad and uses rumble. Shot my gun off and scared the shit out of me when my pad started vibrating like hell.

What he means is if anyone can run the bin64 executable (in bin64 folder).
If you don't know what you're talking about don't answer.

For now I can't run the bin64 executalbe either. Just the 32 bit, in vista x64, which is what the crackfix enabled.

I've been saying this from the first batch of screenshots. It looks like Crytek can only make jungle/island games.

It's a great game single headshot takes people out for me no idea what the AP is talking about.
Just wish you had a sniper rifle from the start bring on the trainer.
Used my multiplayer beta key to install also though i would imagine they will nuke all those when the games officially out.
If not then great.

About a Grand for the Full Rig, granted I didn't buy it for games, point is still valid though. So what should you look for in a GFX card?

The only good thing about Crysis is the keygen that comes with it.
