Thanks. ANd yes I thought I couldnt do it because it all seemed so overwhelming at first lol.
But anyways I have a new problem.... I have the CCCLX version of The Orange Box. Now I have it burned and everything but it keeps getting stuck on the main menu. And also my drive seems to be acting a little weird.
For example: my Halo 3 (original copy) seems to take forever to load. |
You burned a bad disc.. I did that with 3 copies. Buy good blanks like Verbs & use IMGBurn to burn it so you can verify the copy after its complete (clonecd has no verify).

Alright Il try burning it again. My original games work fine again. I dont know what was wrong with Halo but it works just fine now.
And also, the burned disc of The Orange Box makes strange squeaky noises when I insert it in the drive. Does that happen with good burned discs as well?

I've never noticed any sqeeking with good burns... they sound just like an original silver disc would sound like. I imagine the squeeking you are refering to is from the drive trying to re-read bad sectors on the disc over and over again... the the motor slowing down and speeding up.... could also be a slightly heat warped disc, but the previous is more likely.

Yea it probably is that because the noise keeps repeating and it sounds identical everytime. Il order a pioneer 112d today and try burning again.

I have one last question, I have not tried burning with my current burner because it is somewhat old. My current burner is a "LITE-ON SOHW 1633s"
It supports DVD+R DL but the max writing speed is I believe 2.4X. Should I even bother trying to burn with this burner?

Let me just briefly recount the way I did my xbox:
Attempt 1 was an ms25, I flashed a blank (non-keyed) image to its rom, the flash fubar'd, and I didn't have a backup firmware. E68 up the ass. Ended up having to sell the fucker.
Attempt 2 was done in a more civilized manner: I used the mktflash from the Samsung Auto Flasher, 1.2 RevC firmware (patched via part of samsung's autoflasher booted from a floppy) then I used the mktflash from the Auto Flasher to boot into NTFS4DOS on one of my hard drives and flash it from there.
So, yeah, that tutorial helps. If you follow it.

I am not trying to say that people are going about flashing Sammy's the wrong way, but it is the hard way... The way I did it, only took me 5 minutes....
-Create DOS flash USBdrive using iPrep.
-Boot to DOS
-Hook up Sata Cable
-Type iDump 1234567 12345
-Reboot to DOS
-Type iFlash 1234567 12345
-DONE!
People that go and dump the ORIG.BIN, and then create there own HACKED.BIN are making it harder than it is... and Hitachi's arent that difficult either.... But that is enough of my morning Rant!! Later

^^ not really, just change the part where before you select the drive in the list in DOS, turn your machine off. Select the Xbox 360 Drive from the list, wait 10 seconds, turn it back on... Then do the same when flashing!! Never had any problems. Have modded like 10 boxes with sammy's in them!!

I've got the same kind of I/O error here with the same interpretation (sometimes another interpretation; don't remember it though).
I have a plextor 716A and it was working perfectly 'till last month when the error appeared.
From what I found on different forums, my burner is pretty much dead...
Gonna get myself a 112d indeed!

HE would be getting an error in CloneCD too, since it might be that is burner is more or less dead... Why would his burner miraculously start working again with CloneCD.... Never heard of a Zombie DVD Drive! LOL

Well I just placed an order for the pioneer 112d from newegg.
And I did try burning with CloneCD after the ImgBurn attemp. In CloneCD no error message comes up, but it doesnt even start burning. It just basically stays at 0%. And then the CD gets stuck in the drive and wont come out until I restart my computer.
And I also tried burning with fairly new laptop's burner but the result was pretty bad. The burned disc seemed to have many menu and loading problems. Most of the times it just gets fully stuck on the main menu and during gameplay sometimes. But mostly in the menus. And right after inserting it into the xbox, theres strange sqeaking noises and it takes forever for the disc to start. Most of the time it doesnt even start. The screen just stays black until I eject the disc and it goes back to the dashboard.

And about your error with the pinoeer, I am pretty sure its your mobo. It happend to me when I had a MSI card, tried my burner on my friends PC, worked just fine. So try updating the Sata drivers, or flash the BIOS.

Congrats... How much was the drive you purchased?? And was it from a retailer in the US??
Weird though, I have been burning my 360 games on a Lite-On drive for about a year now with no problems! Would like to get a 112d as backup though!

It was only 29.99 and 5$ for shipping from Newegg.com. Arrived quite quickly too. And apparently the discs are not perfectly burned. I just tried to test this 1 multiplayer map in call of duty 4 about 2 minutes ago and the xbox gave me a message saying "disc is unreadable...please clean the disc"

I used memorex. Burned at 2.4x. Could it be because I mark the discs with a permanent marker after burning? Or is that crazy talk

I mean I can still play and stuff with the memorex but I just cant seem to get a perfect burn. It still gets stuck on the orange box menu sometimes with a new burned copy of orange box.
Could it be a problem with my x360 drive? Maybe I should update firmware to 1.3. Earlier right after my xbox got stuck with the burned disc, I tried playing halo 3 (original copy) and it got stuck right after loading the first time.
And also, after inserting these new burned discs, the drive sounds like its whistleling. It doesnt sound like when I insert an original disc. Should there be a difference in sound between burned and original discs?

Update your Pioneer's Firmware.
Pioneer 111D + Datawrite Titaniums work fine here.

I updated my xbox 360 drive's fw last night to 1.3 and now and the discs seem to run flawlessly. At every point it used to have problems, the problems are completely gone. And the loud whistling/squeaking noises my drive used to make, are also gone. Even though I used the 12x fw.
Could it be because the 1.2c fw I used was spoofed as ms28 and the 1.3 fw I used is spoofed as an ms25?
My drive's original fw is an MS25.
