So there are community patches up to 1.5 but I hear they modify the exe and dll too so does that mean the 1.12 nocd won't work?

the patch still works with the 1.12 crack but to be sure i used a clone but it stays as crappy as it was ( huge framerates drops etc at certain parts ) so you'd better off changing the .ini manually ( you can use one of theirs too )

i liked the first two gothic games... but it had to be said they were buggy as fuck, and G3 was the most buggy laggy POS i have seen in a while, this i can say in the knowledge i actually paid for it

Somehow I don't think this game is salvageable. Anyway , we don't need a crack, we need a working tages image of the game, mini or full.
I take it the old VirtualCD mini-images in GCW don't work, right ? Anyone tested ?
There is a full german image floating in a newsgroup, should work for german ppl I guess.

so with all the patches did the combat become harder, do the enemy stop lining up one by one for the slaughter and are all thr quest bugs gone? if so then i might even reisntall it because thats all i found wrong with the game, run very beautifully here and smooth as a babies bum.

I bought the game for £10 ($20 for yanks) but it runs like crap in Vista and the developers don't seem to work too quickly on a patch to fix it. They admit the problem exists though - and Vista haters, fuck off, it's not a Vista issue - it's the way they coded the game that just is very incompatible.

The developers can't do anything as they (Piranha bytes) have separated from Jowood and started working on their own game.
Gothic 3 is being kept alive via fans who got access to part of the games code from Jowood as they still retain the Gothic franchise and have infact already hired a new developer for Gothic 4.
(Will be interesting to see how both PB's new game and Gothic 4 turns out.)

The previous 1.12 crack disables a few updated files from the community 1.5 update as they also fixed problems in a few DLL files and the EXE file.
This means that Game.dll, Engine.dll and Gothic3.exe will not take advantage of those updates. (Unsure exactly which updates but the one regarding improved memory handling probably needs these files.)
