Hi mate
i had the same trouble...it was the cracked exe i was using (the fixed rzr one i believe) anyway ...i went to GBW and downloaded their NO DVD and it works fine now.

i finished the game some days ago... And i felt something i almost never do with the games now.. i was impressed by the atmosphere that the game creates, i can hardly remember another title that feels like that. (Especially the Pripyat map) And it feels like it build the characters through their conversation and flashbacks-something not very common for a FPS. The plot was standart, but for such title it goes well..
Playing the US part mission was a bit boring in comparison with the SAS missions that were quite diverse from each other..
sooo overal it's one of the best games i've played lately 
 Spoiler: | there were moments when i was dropped my jaw and said WOW like when the nuke goes of and the aftermath part. Oh, and in the end i almost cried out when Zakhaev started killing the SAS mates  , the Johnson end was dramatic as well... |

Abit disapointed on the boat map. It's really impressive with the boat in singleplayer. Awsome with the waves and thunder - but why did they remove these features from the very same map in multiplayer??
But the game is awsome - GOTY no doubt about it.
shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.

man sp is a mess on hardened.
im at the tv station and inside the big area fuckers keep on spawning.
this is so scripted as hell untill u reach a point. after 15 mins i gave up. fuckers.
Im going to play this on recruit see if it makes a differnce cause this sucks huge.

Absolutely loved the Pripyat-map/sniper mission. The atmosphere in this game simply rocks, it's almost like playing Black Hawk Down.
On the downside, the gameplay is very predictable and so is the AI. The rudamentary spawning from COD2 is still there, however it has been toned down a bit. Your teamies are actually doing something now, even though most of the work is left for the player. Lots of places your teamies are shooting like drunks. I hate the spawning, that you have to cross a certain line and then trigger the next set of events. The way they have set it up is not exactly the least predictably. This is why it's not gonna be GOTY.
That being said, the atmosphere outweights all the downsides for me.

Thanks a ton! I re-downloaded the game 3 times thinking it was a corrupt installation. I figured it was that fucking crack-fix.

CoD4 = the best MP experience this year. Totally addicting, great fun and just like when Bf2 was released I can't stop playing it. Fucking great game!

Just finished it, overall was a really good game - playing on the hardest difficulty for most of it somewhat ruined it though...makes the game completely retarded. Much more enjoyable on the lower difficulty levels. I must have missed something though cause I'm a bit confused about it:

Overall 8/10 for me at best, definitely not my game of the year but very good nonetheless.

| Spoiler: | Yes, you snipe him..but if you listen your teammate say something like "you took the arm right off him, no worries it'll do it, he'll bleed to death anyways"..so he basicly survive and come back in present time. In the end of the game when you lay there waiting to shoot his head off and he's shooting your S.A.S mates you can see he only has one arm... |
