I just installed and playd the first 30 minutes.. i think.
And i must say.. I pretty much amazed by the nice cinematic
play it gives us. First i start the game. Max everything in game
and nvidia. Then i watch all those nice weapons hanging in the
training map. Then the first mission start of on a big ship..
I like this allot!! The ending of this mission was very real
and realistic how the ship sinks and the effects are mind blowing.
Then after that u get captured and u drive around captured
in a mercedes and the terrosts take u somewhere.
This game is very nice!
Good effect!
Graphics are not that great.
But everything maxed looks fine!
New laptop: i7-3630QM / 8GB / Nvidia 650M 1GB / 500GB

why dont you define "Next Gen" for us so we can all agree on this...
This game uses specular, diffuse, bump and normal mapping, unsure of occlusion tho. now for as far as shading goes.. there isnt much more to add. |
The vegetation is much better on Oblivion than here and the game was released one year and an half ago. Moreover a lot of textures are in low resolution and with poor details.
I don't care about bloom, hdr real time shadows or what else. The most important thing to me is the texture quality.

basically he means the game doesnt look like ILM or WETA rendered it...
that, and it doesnt look half as good as crysis

first off.. vegitation in oblivion(why does this game come up in every topic ?) was part of its main features, 90% of the game is trees and other vegitation. In CoD its nothing more then filler, nevertheless it is as said lowquality sprite veggies idd.
as for the textures... I dont think next gen is about bigger texture maps. tho some are indeed of poor quality, bigger maps isnt something that needs next gen DX or coding.. it just needs more system memory.
Next gen is nothing more than a publicity term introduced to hype games like Crysis..
When the game finally launches, everyone will be whining how crappy it runs, how it looks nothing like the demos etc etc, and people will find out that next gen is nothing more then expensive marketing ...

yes I did..
but please explain whats so special about it, overbright blooms/hdr or the fact that sheds are destructable..oh joy
Ive been around long enough to have whitnessed atleast a dozen "next gen game revolutions" and trust me... there is no such thing. it all boils down to hardware, there is nothing "hard" about useing big textures maps or breakable items, they have been around since ages. but as long as there is no PC capable of running something that runs 200 4096x4096 spec diffuse occlusion maps and calculates a 50.000 poly tree breaking into 50.000 parts, next gen isnt something that magicly comes around one day.
Games evolve, they dont just all of a sudden turn all "next genny" ...

Well, its really the hardware that evolves in "generations"..so you get a core2duo and 8800 series card that make up the current generation. The games that utilise the features of that hardware are "next generation" or really "current generation".
COD 4 rocks bells and is truly the best game I have played in a long time. Much better than HL ep2.
The story twists and the "special" levels are amazing, as is the scale of action.
ps I can play the AC-13 level all day. Ka-boom

Sure it is, just because they don't over use every special effect available like so many other games doesn't mean it's not next gen. Just like the half-life 2 games they make good use of effects which makes the game look great without using a power hungry game engine.

awesome!
Quote: | Blast Processing was a marketing term coined by Sega in the 1990s to advertise the fact that the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis could calculate faster motion than the Super Nintendo Entertainment System and was generally taken by the public to refer to the main system processors.
The term first appeared in advertising materials for Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and was promoted aggressively. In the US an ad campaign featured a race between two vehicles - a Top Fuel Dragster and a broken down ice cream truck. The former had a Genesis with a modern TV set strapped to it, with clips from Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Ecco the Dolphin and Streets of Rage 2 playing when the Dragster car was screened. The ice cream truck had the SNES on its back, with a 50s TV set showing screens from Super Mario Kart. The comparison tried to persuade consumers that the Mega Drive/Genesis was the more powerful console whereas the Super NES was a not-so-powerful console plagued with slowdown, despite the fact that it also had its share of unique technical features, such as Mode 7. |

It's interesting how this game is considered so great despite its linearity, while Jericho was so considered so bad because of it being linear.
