yeah i know. Old news.
Anyway, I can't seem to get any help with this anywhere so i thought what then hell, I'll post here and see if anyone knows anything about it.

Anyway, My son bought the Warcraft II battle chest or whatever it is called.
So we install everything (including frozen throne). He tries to connect to battlenet and gets a picture that says You may be trying to connect to an invalid Battle.net server. If you are using a modem, you may need to manually connect to the Internet Before connecting to battle.net.

So I go and scrounge up all the patches for the freaking thing (and there was a BUNCH) and we apply all those. We try again and get the same dambned error. I read what ports to forward on our router and do that. Turn off his firewall. Nothing. Same shit.

Anyone know anything about this?

Does router have Firewall? If not then it might be some problem with youre firewall. What firewall you use?

Yeah the router has a built in firewall and he has a firewall on his computer which I disabled.

I though forwarding the ports on the router would be the solution to the router firewall though no?

Y but there could be problem with firewall in router. Try to disable it to see if it helps. Only a thought. Tell me what software firewall you have. Its not zone alarm i hope? Other net games work ok?

P.s. You really think you need firewall?

No he doesnt need a seperate firewall. It was leftover from when i had it and I was too lazy to remove it.
it isn't zone alarm. It's Sygate.

Yeah other net games seem to work fine. he plays Hellgate London with no problems.

You have more PC-s? If yes try it on other pc. I really dont see what could be wrong except something blocking War3 to access net. Disable everything you have running in backround like AV and stuff.

hell, i was beginning to wonder if they still had Warcraft III through battle net.

yeah i have like 5 computers in the hosue. guess we will try iot on some of those.

He was playing a cracked version of Warcraft III and decided to buy it because he loves DOTA so much and wanted to play on Battlenet. I wonder if there's anyway he could have gotten black listed by Battlenet somehow...? But that only works on the CD keys right? It blocks certain CD keys from being used I suppose. Seeing as how this is a brand new retial CD key... i wouldnt think that would eb a problem.

I did google and found some other people with the same problem but never saw a solution and it was only like 2 people that I could find.

I dont know how battlenet lets you know if you have been blocked.

Will report when we try a new pc.
