I can only wonder how those lists all you posted would be affected, had you only played the demo of each game.

Only good at this demo is graphics (sure far better than carbon).
You cant feel the speed or that you are driving. And there is something like stuttering (same as carbon) Confused

you mean the game runs smooth and you see now and then a stutter. I have that too. Its just like you don't have enough memory and that hdd is loading.

i have almost the same system as you.

Only difference is that Carbon was streaming data in and out because of the huge level, and this shouldn't... 2GB should be enough for the game (it is for me).

Q6600>2GB DDR2>X1950Pro 256mb(agp) @ 1440x900 all max AA4x and I get a minimal of 25 FPS during races and a max of 35 FPS... Can't say it's bad seeing I'm using a agp vid card + I don't get any stuttering. Well the 25 fps part gets a bit unsmooth, but that's not weird

The stupid part is, when I lower the settings (no aa/ high shadows/fx/other stuff) I only get like 5 fps more Surprised

Don't ask about the Q6600>AGP combo I'm trying to fix it asap (I beleave I've already spammed that somewhere else in this topic Very Happy)

The biggest downside of my cheap Asrock motherboard is that it's to budget to overclock anything Very Happy and it does have a pcie slot but it's only 4x pcie :O

Anyways this is going waaay to offtopic Razz

I seriously doubt there will be ever again a NfS game as good as "Most Wanted". I enjoyed that so much and am still playing it. It offered the best mix of driving/roaming freedom and linear competition design, great graphics, daylight(!) and good feeling of "speed" Very Happy

Most wanted sucked @ss, Porsche Unleashed was the greatest in the series.

I liked Porche Unleashed, High Stakes, and the one that introduced cops. Forgot WTF it was called but it was the first police chase in a racing game I'd been in. Holy shit was it exciting, ran from the cops for like 4 days straight.

You make it sound like you've been in a real life police chase before it Smile You might mean Hot Pursuit.

hence that's why it's using 100% cpu

could be lack of dual core optimiziation and how long DC's been out, i wonder what they tested game on, Pentium 4? Razz

Well i didn't actually say it's using 100% cpu on mine but i would not be surprised due to how it's behaving. I have mouse lag in some of the menus particularly the menu right before the race.

Imo the first NFS was the only good one in the series. Was great driving along the coast tracks listening to sultans of swing.

Cheers. Browsed it through quickly and these thing hit the eye:

"Drift it the mode which will take the most practice to master and is also the game mode that changed the most compared to previous games. This year drift is all point to point and like drag you will have 3 attempts with the best score being counted. Physics in the drift are pretty much like in the rest of the game except with all assists off and a little less traction on the tyres."

"But autosculpt does come in as pretty useful this year as it affects the top speed / downforce ratio. Whole bodywork tuning is done in a wind tunnel where you can see the top speed / downforce slider move instantly as you apply different parts and autosculpt them."

Drift might finally be something else that full throttle and steer a bit sometimes, it might be challenging and fun because of it. Interesting to see if it's still drivable with a digital controller (keyb)or do I have to dust of my wheel. Either way if it's nothing like Carbons drift it's good Smile

Here's one of the new videos. This one I really enjoyed. Shows little bits of gameplay in all modes and settings. I have to say that Drift seems much better than ever.

Demo expander is out. Adds a bit more joy just to keep the demo lasting until the imminent release.

http://download.nfsnation.com/files/demoexpander.zip

Makes all AI cars playable (M3, EVO IX, RX7, Cuda), has sounds/specific handling/etc for all of them (I loved the Cuda and EVO IX), and adds 2 test tracks to Speed and 2 to Grip. Plus allows windowed mode and getting straight to the Mode Select menu.
