Same problem here, have to hold down left button a few seconds before Geralt starts to attack. Have a logitech MX510 mouse

Yesss, I am so happy, someone else with the same problem, now maybe between us we can get it sorted out. I have put new and up to date drivers in and will test it in game soon. Very Happy

Done the same, will try and enable/disable in-game mouse hardware acceleration to see if there is any difference.

Game feels abit too easy on Medium after act II or so when u put silver talents into strenght+stam+dex and buff up igni with everything else... can run into any group of monsters of any kind and blast away, think ive yet to die in combat in this game, Beast in act I was prolly the only mob that got bit closer in killing me.
and considering i dont use any potions or bladecoating/sharpening ever in combat. only cat potion to see in the dark sometimes.
They made those Signs abit unbalanced, igni+aard are so much better than rest.
My inceneration ones ticked for 88dm per sec Twisted Evil

Yea, those two signs are only ones I actually use. I'm kinda happy I started on hard. First chapter was HARD, but once I learned controls second was not that hard, only died couple of times against those flowers and wyverins, still I had to use that health potion a lot.

I'm loving this game... It's so immersive!!

At the beggining i thought "bah, only swords and no fancy heavy plates? Where's my warhammer?" but now i'm really into the character Geralt.

And the way that the decisions I make affect the world are presented in a really nice way.

Even if you believe you're making the right decision things must really be taken into consideration! For two times already I faced this situation...

Looks like the EU version is somewhat "cut" after all albeit not in the ususal sense to censor the violence or cover nudity.

I have to agree with you. I have played so little of the game, yet it seems so long and immersive. And my god have I loved it so far. I'm still at the Outskirts of Vizima, exploring the whole damn thing and talking to everyone I can, learning from my mistakes in conversations.

The first part with all the fighting felt clumsy at first but it grew on me, and after I passed it, as the story started to unfold and characters had stories to tell, I started smiling more and more.

It's a great game overall from the little I've played so far (which has been hours, really), and I hope it continues that way.

Engine is also drop dead gorgeous, did you check out the sewers at night, or the light shining through the tower and hospital windows, nice eerie glows and stuff, and the nice atmosphere in the dungeons with the cozy red lights, you really gotta see this in 1920x1200 on a 24" TFT to know what I am talking about.

Best game of 2007? I think the clunky, sluggish, truck like driving combat system needs some polishing up, otherwise the rest of the game (minus load times) is fabulous. Yes Combat and waiting an eternity to enter a lousy house detract from the immersion quite a bit.

The loading is leaving houses though.

you shouldn't be getting horrific load times for houses. It literaly loads in like 2-3 seconds on my rig. Tho most houses are virtually empty anyways so going into them is a bit pointless.

After reading all posts about possible bugs, is it wise to upgrade to patch 1.1, I am on ACT III, will I lose my savegames? Sorry if this has been answered already, saw a few replies but it hasn't been confirmed to the guys I saw asking it.

1.1 won't affect you, I've updated twice and none of my saves were hurt. Also A LOT of stuff has been fixed in the last couple patches.

Totally agreed. It is funny I think that this game is based on the NWN 1 engine (with custom modification of course). But, IMHO, it looks waay better than NWN 2, with the completely redone and improved graphics engine. Of course both good games, but I think the witcher team bested it on graphics as well as story and everything else.

BTW, anyone else getting a kick out the references to lesser known sources like HP lovecraft and monty python? I love going back to the swamp and getting involved with the 'Cthulhu Mythos'-like beliefs of the brickmakers. I know alot of games that give a sorta nod to the theme, but this game really worked it into the story well, I thought. And gotta love the nod to MP with the lumberjacks Wink

I think it has to do with the fact that I have "only" 1 gig of ram. Loading houses for example, that bitch tells you to go get flowers. So that = Go in house to speak to her, Go outside fetch flowers, Go back inside, Go back outside and meditate, Go back inside. Now for me HALF of that is loading which is lame.

Also the entire game (probably because of "only" 1 gig of ram) is sluggish. Getting into the Map, Quest log, Inventory, etc. Things like that all have a 2-3 second delay. I'm gonna try to defrag with a different app and see how it goes.

Otherwise 2 gigs of PC6400 is like $45 bucks now won't hurt to grab some.

Oh BTW, the average load time out to the main area is between 45 seconds to 1 1/2 mins. It's driving me fucking insane and on a few occasions made me just Alt F4 the shit and close it. It's SOOOOO annoying when you die (Hard mode! It's actually hard!) and have to wait a grueling fucking 5 minutes before getting back to where you were due to loading.

I have just installed 4 GIG of memory but still encounter very long load time, I either need to reinstall Wicher or wait until the next patch fixes this.

Sure the load time are a tad long...but I think I never had the game load more then MAX! 10-15 sec for anything. Gigs of ram in all its glory, but its also down to how fast they are Wink

Also running all my games from 2xRaptors in raid 0, that also speeds things up.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but that's part of the "truck driving simulator" this game portrays.

It might help a bit I guess, just make sure your loading off of a fast HD, running your memory dual channel will help a bit and your drives are fully defragged. I'm on an SATA, 2x1024 PC3200 and x2 4400+ with my drive defragged by most accessed (O&O defrag) and load times really aren't that painful for me. never above 10 seconds

I wouldn't doubt it dude, I have 2x1024 in mine and and the game easily uses like 1100 memory.
