There's a few reports from users in the official forums, unsure what causes it but the game is rather memory hungry which might be one of the reasons it crashes after a few hours of playtime. Smile
(Had two crashes so far which I suppose are due to the above and the game hanged once during dice play as I somehow shot most dice over the table and had to press ESC to force a quit of the match.)

I just restarted again as I want to complete the stuff I missed in the previous acts.
(From what I know it's Odo's dog whatever he does, merchant looking for his friend - got eaten by Barghests in previous game and I missed several sex scenes in the second act and failed one quest as the giver got killed by accident and missed several others.)

How does the amount of RAM have any relation with the install location? If you have two HDD's you should make a games partition or something like that on the other HDD.

The pagefile is used much less if u have enough ram to support the game. And newer comps have faster ram also.
When u have the pagefile+game+windows on the same partition, the game runs and loads faster. I learned it hardway from gothic 3 tweaking and it creates vastly noticable difference in the witcher aswell.
I went from "annoyed" to "smooth" gameplay pretty much simply by moving the game to my C: drive.

*without goin too much offtopic, i suggest everyone to max out igni, its such a fun sign to use and rapes those plants in the swamp so easy.

Hm, wont it basically, in essence, be as fast with an "original dvd" even if you're using an IDE emulation on the .bwt file?

Dude read it again , like in Titan Quest when all used that securom emu to run this game and had lags , the same is here

want this game to load faster then BUY IT or wait for a CRACK

thats the price you pay for playing clones from a emu , yes it works but it loads slower

i dont believe all this crap that the game loads much faster with the original dvd.

all the witcher reviews mentioned the long loading times, the witchers own forums has an 8 page thread with people complaining about slow loading times

you mean post like
Code:
I has p4 ht 1gig ram and fx5200 and game play with 4 fps hateoz the load times
funny thing about its that people hearing that it runs on NWN 1 engine think it will run faster then light on they old machines , no one forced them to download this game ,
and they should make the register code a must like on Nwn forums then we would see how much people really play with the DVD .

This is not true. Pagefile should be on separate disk as should games if you have 3 disks. windows use youre windows installation hdd all the time, then you ad pagefile swaping and loading and streaming of music from game and what you get? Slow performance. If you spread it you get 3 disk working when needed and faster performance because all disks can work at peek perfomance accessing data youre system needs.

You forgot to mention that the sam issue is with digital release.

Quote:
I (and a few others) that purchased the game via Metaboli (Digital Download) from the Atari (UK) site are in the same boat. (i.e. no Community Key was issued with the download, only the game activation key.)

This is beginning to sound like a much larger problem and not just limited to the Digital Download version.
