heh yeah yahtzee rocks. he has valid points, as always, and I suppose Halo 3 as a single player shooter is kinda average.
Coop still makes it one of the most fun games I've ever played.
to be honest eventhough I'm a pretty big halo fan and have been following it ever since the first infos popped up where it was supposed to be a mac game I haven't even played Halo 3 in single player at all. only coop.
I don't think I even ever played more than a mission or two in Halo 2 alone eventhough I finished it over a dozen times in coop with my sister. heh

Well, well.. 3 friends and I planned this as soon as we heard about 4 player co-op, to go immediately to a 4 player co-op game on legendary right out of the box, and that is just what we did.
We put about 5-6 hours in and made it to the last level before we called it a night, so we played a fair chunk.
The graphics are acceptable. Nothing that blows your mind, but the game definitely looks nice, and when you're zipping around your replays and noticing all the things you didn't notice when you were playing, you will really say "wow." It still looks like the Halo universe, which is the important thing to me. The game will not go down in history as the most beautiful game ever, but I don't think anyone will complain (except the morons... )
The co-op gameplay is amazing. Now I can just hear all of you "wahhhh co-op is nothing new, they did it 10 years ago, wahhhh!!!!" Who cares? Co-op is fucking awesome and it doesn't need to be revolutionary or new, it needs to be FUCKING FUN, which is exactly what it is. The chaos and battles that happen are out of control fun, and that's what matters. We experienced very little lag and over-all ran nice and smooth.
The only gripe I might have is the ease of respawning, it seems to happen too fast, too easily, which accounts for so many players blowing through even legendary so quickly. Granted, some parts would be insanely frustrating otherwise.. I think we totally wiped like only three times.
As said by other players, the weapons feel a little dead, or weak, or something. They definitely do not pack the feel of, say, Halo 1. The vehicles feel the same, which ironically saddens me a little bit. So many complaints about the original Warthog's controls from Halo 1, but I loved them, and hoped they would remove the Halo 2's Warthog's stiffness a bit, but it seems they did not.
Level design is both shallow at parts, and mind-blowingly amazing in others. There is a small amount of backtracking, and I know critics are going to LOVE to jump all over that, and blow it out of proportion, but it isn't really that bad. It adds new some new fights to locations you already passed, but it's not terrible.
There are plenty of tight corridor areas and I know the critics are going to jump on that and blow that out of proportion too, but whatever. I never felt like it was a problem, I was too busy enjoying the shit out of the game to notice a tight hallway breaking my immersion and going "why the fuck am I cramped in this hallway?!"
I messed around with the Forge a bit, and wasn't too impressed with it just yet. But to be perfectly fair, I really only gave it about an hour of attention, enough to scratch the surface. I don't even know the deeper capabilities of the Forge yet, I'm sure amazing things will happen by some people. The highlight is that you can have up to 8 people editing with you. Needless to say, I was running around as a player and my friend was in edit mode, he spawned a tank and with godlike prowess, threw it at me and splattered me along the ground.
Multiplayer I honestly am not really looking forward to. Halo has always been about the co-op with me, and there are some super retarded douchejockeys in Halo MP games, like the worst of the worst to be found in MP games. But I did mess around with a few friends at some point, the highlight was definitely Ninjanaught and Zombie. Nothing knew to the genre, but they are definitely full of amusement.
Ah, now I have saved the best for last, the part where my Halo fanboyism will truly come to light. Some parts of this game feel mediocre to most, and for Halo fans, they simply brandish a smile and enjoy the game, even at its weakest. Now when the fucking kick ass parts come, they are wide eyed with joy and amazement to the likes of which they do not experience often. Of what do I speak? Both Scarab Tank battles were fucking incredible. I'm not sure how it would feel in Solo Campaign, but I've never played a campaign game of Halo by myself, so I really would not know. But having you and 3 friends working your ass off to bring that bitch down is an experience none should miss. Who cares if it's not doing anything new to the FPS genre, it's fucking fun as hell, and if you try to argue that, you're dumb. The first scarab tank gives you all those mongoose vehicles and a bunch of marines with rockets, then you start haulin' ass around the bitch tryin' to take him down. Just having the 4 of us in the area co-operatively working on what you might consider a "boss" battle, it felt like nothing before. Until the second Scarab Tank battle came. TWO this time. We hopped on a few hornets and a buddy flew us right in, we hopped off and landed on it, proceeded to rape its weak spot, and then we battled the other. The two battles felt so good, I don't think I've yet to play an FPS where I had that level of excitement.
Another stage where I was wide-eyed with joy, was when they pack you and your 3 friends on a couple of warthogs and just you fly loose down the roads into battle. They fire up that fucking Halo theme and THEN you know it is FUCKING ON. You are flooded with battle excitement until you are ready to explode, then you haul batshit crazy into the thick, the driver is doing what he does best, the gunner on your back (who is your friend) is blasting the shit out of people. Out of the corner of your eye you see the other 2 friends in their warthog plowing over a hill, flying through the air, flanking the motherfucking shit out of some motherfuckers. You put on your best moves, dodge a few grenades, eat a few bullets, but in the end, you mop those bitches up. You are battle weary, your warthog is a bit fucked up, you have a gimpy wheel, but you and your allies are still in the fight. You haul ass down the road into the next battle. OH SHIT. Your two other buddies were ahead of you, they took a mortar blast to the side and fucking flipped the fuck out. Their warthog is fucked, they go in for cover and start rippin' away with what they've got. You can't stop now though, you are fucking driving this shit, and your buddy is on the gun. You are hauling ass at a new group, right for their fucking face. You ram a couple, who knows where those fucking corpses went, your buddy is gunning the shit out of the rest. AH DAMN, a brute shot from the side, your warthog is fucked, you are now on the ground, IN THE SHIT. Oh man, you see your other two buddies comin' over the hills to back you up. After intense battles, explosions everywhere, you win the day. The four of you regroup, and march down the road together.
There are a couple of experiences like that in the game, that make the entire game make you want to punch any Halo hater in the face without question, and to go look at those reviews that say 9.5/10, 10/10, and just nod in agreement. Because you fucking know what it's about. And you don't even argue with the people that hate the game anymore. You don't even argue with those that try to peddle off a 6.5/10 score. You just shake your head to yourself and pity them. Because you have just experienced one of the most SATISFYING battles in a game in your entire life. And you are glowing.
If you've read this far, thanks a lot. Sorry if I needed a few extra paragraphs back there, I was writing too furiously and don't feel like going back to edit. To all of you that have experienced Halo 3 and loved it, I'm right there with you. To those of you who have NOT experienced it, you're in for a wild ride. To those that hate Halo 3, that's too bad. I'm glad I have this exact taste for games, where I can leave Halo 3 feeling like I did. I only wish you could do the same.
I just want to make one thing clear. There was a lot of hype going on for this game, but something needs to be understood, parts of this game are incredible, those sections that leave you feeling like I did, that shit is NOT hype, that is pure gaming joy. sTo0z out.
Ok sorry that i quote this..
but i think it is one of the best post ever!
i just finished the game ( call me lame or whatever, but i play more games on my 360 that i am to short on time )
and damn, that last level.. GREAT
(hmm long time that i logged in here, didn't know my password and email adres this account was on.. but ok. i am back on track now , i dont think people remember me, but just to let you guys know )
I sure hope that Red vs Blue will continue.
Now with the replay function they could do really awesome stuff.
Until now they always had to use the viewpoint of one player to "film" everything. Now they could just fly around, pause, zoom out/in, whatever. It's the perfect tool for machinima makers.

well I just didn't get the last level... I mean drive, jump, fail, drive, jump find altarnate route fail, drive, jump, make it part way there, fail, and so on.... and the ending, it's not the best game of all time. Maybe I expect too much...
I assume this is just some promotional clip since it's supposed to be the battle on Earth just before Master Chief lands but it gives you a great idea of how goddamn cooler a Halo movie could really be!
another reason not to buy games ^^
Never had a dirty disk error with either my verbs or mirrors, so fuck orginal games. There will always be enough people who buy games. So I get get free games on benifit of others
Without games I would get more "freetime" anyway...
i mean it's not big of a deal, just give option to install friggin game to hd, now that 120gb hd are available for it, it will give less headaches to m$ itself
demos work perfectly from hd and have less acces time
baahh who i'm i kidding, when were any of those bastards thinking about someones comfort
I downloaded CCCLX's version and Ive completed it through, but went to load it today and it comes up "Game Failed to Load", it then takes me back to the lobby screen.

Yes, that's quite a common problem, if you contact Bungie they'll put you in touch with their returns department and have you sorted out in no time at all. good luck!

well bawbag I burned another copy and it loads fine.
aw man, that little guy is awesome! I fucken creamed when I saw the turret! Shit, painted up nice (so it looked like a battle damaged turret) I'd spend good money for a prop like that. I can't believe some of the comments though >.< You think the Halo community is immature? I think the youtube community has that trophy in the bag.
