I've modified the Island map but it took me long enough to finish the first release - enjoy it!

Awesome change, I love all the explosive barrels its mayhem and the area after words is totally destroyed, they gave us a demo to try out a normal single player mission and you gave us a mod to try out what we really want to see, massive explosions and chaos everywhere.
Only thing I don't like is the limited view, which is the coolest part about far-cry and Crysis, how you can basically see the entire island, but with snow you can barely see anything.
The snowy myst makes the game run like 15fps max for me, brings my computer to its knee's. I love the games ice effects, the frozen over vehicles, and the shards of ice that fly all over when you blow shit up.
I was surrounded by enemies inside this small shack at the top of a hill, with explosive barrels all around. I was stealthed in the center of all of them, and I threw a grenade at my feet, and tried to run. I made it about 5 feet then nade blew up, and killed me instantly, my body was thrown up into the air and I saw pieces of the shack, barrels, guns, and other debre flying through the air around me until I finally hit the ground. The last thing I saw was shards of ice falling to the ground and melting next to my dead body as it counted down the reload timer...I love this game

I find the best setting that i enjoy to play cryssis with decent frames:
1024X768
ALL HIGH
NO AA
plays very smooth 30-50fps
my rig:
E6400@3.2Ghz
Gskil 3Gigs 800mhz
Leadtek 8800GTS 640MB - (620@1000)
i hope a future patch ith good nvidia driver i'l pop it up to 1280X1024
but right now the game looks very good!
P.S
DX9

Crysis demo in 32 bit and 64 bit modes:
To begin with, we took the following system and ran the CPU and GPU benchmarks in 32 bit and 64 bit mode: Windows Vista Ultimate x64, Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 3GHz , 4GB system RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB, ForceWare 163.69 drivers.
We took two extremes to see what the results would churn up: 800 x 600, running in DX9 with all detail settings at Low, and 1680 x 1050, running DX10 with all detail settings on Very High. Each benchmark batch file was run 5 times, with all of the collated results averaged. The results are in the image to the right.
Before we all jump to any conclusions though, bare in mind that this is a demo and not the final retail game - we could genuinely see noticeable gains by using the 64 bit version but if we assume that the demo is a pretty close code version to the launch one, then not all of us are going to be so lucky.

i think crytek promised a 20% increase with 64bit didnt they? what we HADNT expected was that 20% of "piss all', really just isnt that much

I see a loss of performance with 64bit version. Crytek said the countrary. What's the point of 64bit games if there are less fps?.

its a demo, it might not be making full use of 64bit capabilities perhaps, just like its not using multiple cores. wait till retail before ye' judge.

Demo is optimized like the final version because it was gold only a few days after the demo release.

not using the newest drivers
Crysis 32bit
Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
866, 60000, 8, 19, 14.433
Crysis 64bit
Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
790, 60000, 3, 26, 13.167
all on high/1280x1024
basically doing the same thing during the 1 minuite bench, taking down a tree, taking out fence slats, blowing up the GPS thing and just shooting

doing some digging, people make it sounds like the retail will run noticably better than the demo, but maybe its just their wishful thinking... fuck i dunno anymore, i really dont...

Q6600 8800GTX 4GB RAM ddr2 800mhz. 1280x1024 no AA all set to very high = 17-19 on the first beach.
Setting shaders to high 25-32 fps on the beach, 22-23 on the first forest.

Wouldnt it make more sense to test 32bit windows with 32bit rendering vs 64bit windows with 64bit rendering instead of doing both render-paths in 64bit windows? I d also like to see a comparison of XP vs. Vista performance for Crysis with lower spec hardware thrown in the mix. Anyone got any good review-sites to fill my hunger for mindless number-comparisons?

theres a proper benchmark batch file for the cpu and another for the gpu in the games folder , no need to bench with fraps or whatever you used
