Russians and Arabs are nemesis of an american soldier and he has to kill them all to bring democracy and freedom to... another americans who will be in this "democratisized" region. It's very original idea... frankly speaking I'm so tired of this cliche! American and other script-writers have to be more creative! Russians are not enemies of USA! Besides it is we who won Great War for Fatherland (a.k.a. WW2). If there wasn't any "commies" then missions in CoD 1 were in New York, Washington (and frankly I doubt there would be any game of CoD series at all) and etc.

Forgive me if this post is a bit offtopic but i read a lot of posts about the politics etc behind this and although i agree with most i believe that sometimes we read way too much into stuff. Let's not become distasteful talking about raping 14year olds cause even if those are true images of wars i doubt this game is about promoting that. All war games still promote the fighting and not everything else. This doesn't necessary make war appealing even to kids when you explain that every life is sacred to them. Even if some ppl they will realize in the future are worth vigilance.

while I agree with most of what you say, along comes this little piece of propaganda ...

Really though, is there a necessity for basing all of these games on real world conflict? I know it adds to the realism of the game, but would it make that much of a difference if this was set somewhere fictional?

on topic, I can't wait to get my hands on this game, hopefully it runs just as good as the demo. Nov 5th seems a long time away Smile

I love the fact that it is modern warfare. I am so fed up with all these WW2 shooters, feels like I have played the entire war by now.

There is recoil, just not as much in CoD2... I'd guess that would be because modern weapons doesn't have that kind of recoil.

More modern warfare games please!

True, you can only play the D-Day landings so many times before they become boring. Smile

Also you fight russian separatists iirc, and not the russian government.

recoil - this is the reason i did not like that our hero has modern weapon and enemies (having all money of arabian oil kings) fight with weak weapon. Its more intresting to have equal weapons, equal chances and more or less equal brains.

2 SilverBlue - there are lots of other events than D-Day in the ww2 history. I really wonder why they did not depict them instead.... like it was said above they could put there lots of other peoples stuggling with occupation - like different resistant forces in the occupied Norway, France, other countries. There is a perfect possibility setting for s single hero-saboteur. This is just for example which proves there always was kinda propaganda pressure.

Talking abt "separatists" - its the same story like killing only arabian terrorists in games. Thats not what happens in reality. And anyhow all the discussion is that we dont agree to be the targets for the bush propaganda.

The first review (i think) of COD4 PC version is already out... and its done by a portuguese magazine called Bgamer.

The game got 93% (cod2 96%)

Pros

Intense and cinematic Action
Awesome Multiplayer

Bad

Linear game
Single player campaign is 6 / 7 hour

More things i can tell you.. the magazine comes with screenshots never seen... and i can tell you theres a nuclear explosion!!
there are dogs that try to kill you by eating your neck, and you need to press some buttons to break the dogs neck.

Do you mean the nuclear explosion? That one was already visible in the trailers and in the video that came with the demo...

Isn't it encrypted like the usual Steam pre-loaded files?

Nice to see it on Steam but not really suprising since the previous CoD titles are also available via that platform.

Most of the times they don't put EXEs with the preload, so wasting 3h is indeed pushing it...

The plot is not the COD one. The COD story means you have separate missions.
But instead they told in all interviews that they have a totally-new-super-feature - the STORY! I did watch the interview recently, cant put the link as it was a video from a magazine.
But such a story still doesnt have even anything to watch or read or pay attention to( like Brothers In Arms or some other action game story - like say FarCry).

There is still no normal plot and i think it would be better if they made the story same old way - the modern combat with terrorists but just separate missions.

I think the story of BF2142 is even better.Thou BF is mp game.

I had to sign in to call you a retard - you sir are ignorant for comparing anything to 2142.. That game is JUNK, and the story is JUNK. I liked the fact that in the demo they manage to keep the same similar back ground as previous COD games. Which always starts out with one mans story or his specific role in the war... The game is going to be awesome.. I refuse to see where the devs said anything that can be remotely consider hypocritical.

lol - in several lines depicting the levels of bf2142 there is much more sense then in this bullshit propaganda plot.
the gameplay is perfect but the plot is shit .
Developers LIED when they told that they changed the method of storytelling to improve the game. They made this full-game plot cause of money they got for propaganda.

So every game with some american elements is automatically American propaganda which apparently recieves a donation from the american administration?
May I ask you have you tried running through the entire game & read the storyline?
