anything to make the scene more public.
HATRED does not believe in using a lesser protected
executables whether it be a steam exe, unprot exe,
demo exe, activemark exe, direct2drive exe or any
other weaker protected exe to make a cheap copy/paste
code exe and then label it as a crack. Nor do we
believe in any other sorts of cheap workarounds.
We greet the respectable groups like:

DELIGHT - FAIRLIGHT - RAZOR1911 - IMMERSION - POSTMORTEM9 |

The deal with 1.0004 patch was that they were waiting for the chinese localized version of the game to be finished.
Behold his GLORY! Bow for the technical master!

Has anyone tried the Hatred 1.0004 patch. Stalker crashes all over the place for me - on two separate computers.
And why is the Hatred NFO not in the NFO's section - made me think this was a fake crack after encountering all the crashes.

Is the 1.0004 a full patch or just incremental?
Are there any mods?

It works for both incremental or full, as for mods go search there is plenty. Oh and I think you need world wide(ww) patch unless you bought it in usa

GSC Games has released a new patch for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Snag the v1.0005 update (29MB) from:
* FileFront
* FilePlanet
* Strategy Informer
* ActionTrip
The patch improves graphical performance plus squashes all known multiplayer bugs.

Freeplay is still scheduled for 1.1 which will be released in 2008 according to the latest news I managed to find, this is a small multiplayer fix and there will also be a 1.0006 patch released later before that large 1.1 update.

haha, "Squashes all known multiplayer bugs".
Apparantly the freeplay patch 1.1 is being scheduled for release alongside Clear Sky, according to the mods over @ gsc forums.

That's just the estimated changes, same with 1.0004 not all changes are added to the readme as several other fixes were found later on such as the massive changes to the all.spawn file which made most mods incompatible.
The readme only lists the following.
Code: |
-= 1.0005 =-
Saved games.
Saved games from 1.0004 version will work with 1.0005 version.
Connectivity.
Connecting to the server will be possible only if the host's version of the game is the same as yours.
Patch 1.0005 addresses the following changes:
The optional net traffic compression on a Multi-Player server is now disabled by default. This allows to host dedicated servers on computers with low and average performance.
-= 1.0004 =-
...
|
(Looks like they made a few other changes as well, there's a file in the mod folder and a new .dbc file with some changes plus all the changed dll and exe files in the bin folder.)

Just letting those interested know there seems to be some movement on the freeplay plans for SoC, namely an open beta starting soon. Which sounds good because I am sure such a massive mode like this requires testing and such. Anyways heres a quote from the update on a fansite.
Quote: | Update: After we spontaneously decided yesterday evening to translate the news-comment (#10) of our community-member "Arterial" (german part of oblivion-lost.de) into english and sent it to Oleg Yavorsky (PR) and Anton Bolshakov (projectleader of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.), we received today at noon a unexpected answer from Oleg Yavorsky, which we can't hide from you:
"Hi Pixel,
Thanks for the heads-up, much appreciate your sending this over.
Indeed, such comments are very alarming and honestly something we will do our best to hopefully bring to minimum. As mentioned in our web-site news, we want to actively communicate with the community and you can expect regular news, screenshots, monthly Q&As etc supply for Clear Sky from our side.
A good news here: we got the greenlight to do open beta testing for all the following SoC patches, including the 1.1 version with the freeplay mode. Shortly we will offer the community to participate in the next patch testing and contribute to make SoC better a game.
I hope we can keep up the cooperation to the joy of us all." |

Now they still need to squash the singleplayer bugs.. cant play straight for more than 5 mins without crashing, even with 1.0004! oh well.. guess they scheduled that for 1.0007 or 8

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: 1.65 Million Copies Sold
From Ukraine to the official S.T.A.L.K.E.R. forums, to Google Translate to Dozerking, to me:
The poster translated the article, saying the CEO of GSC, Sergei Grigorovich, reported sales of 950,000 units in CIS, while selling 700,000 units in the rest of the world, almost all at full price. That would total about 1.65 Million copies plus, since the interview.
GSC proves, once again, that PC gaming isn't dead.

Yeah it looks funny because before the release he was 100% sure it will sell at least 4 mil (in interviews)
p.s. 950000 units in CIS @ at a retail price of $15 not 39.99 or even 29.99

Just installed today with 1.5 patch, decided to give it another go as my old pc couldn't handle it.
Played a couple of hours so far, i'm very impressed. No issues and perfect performance on max settings
