Hm no? Its not that easy. You can put power cable the wrong way in or put the cpu with arrow pointing in the wrong direction and you burned youre mobo or cpu.

Eh no?
All power cables in a PC are designed so u can only connect them in 1 way.
U cant plug them in in any other way without using a hammer or an idiotic amount of force.
its pretty much impossible to put the CPU in the wrong way.
There are 4 ways of fitting the CPU into the socket 3 are wrong and 1 is right.
WHen put in right the CPU will fall into the socket without a problem and with the 3 other ways it wont drop in at all unless you use an idiotic amount of force. This due to the line up of pins and holes.
And then ofc there is the golden arrow wich is pretty easy to see.

And idiots and blind people shouldnt put together PCs.

But the SP demo of Crysis is up on 1 of the bigger torrent sites.

basicly you are right, but even little misstake with connection can harm your hardware so my advice will be:do it slowly and check every connection 3 times befor you turn the power on.

true,
The only thing u can do wrong with power cables is that you forget them or they arent fully connected. WIch means that they wont work but this cant dmg the hardware.
Unless ofc its the power plug of your water pump in wich case the PC will shut down due to exceding the set max heat.

For instance when u forget the power cable on a grafix card it wont boot or you will get a warning that ur card isnt getting enough power and thus will b clocked back. Same for if u forget the power cable on your HD etc.

The only way to damage ur hardware is if u plug it in wrong wich is pretty impossible.

look, in regards to building your own computer:

if youve ever replaced a graphics card, or added a new harddrive, and can read written english instructions, then your perfectly capable of building a pc. seriously. thats not elitest talk or some shit, thats all the knowledge/abilities i had when i build this pc (my first built one) and almost nothing went wrong Very Happy

everything only plugs in one way, and as long as you read the instructions you wont have any problems installing the cpu.

Fully agree.
I started out with replacing my grafix card (back in the day) and adding a Hard drive on a P2. Ofc i forgot the slave master settings wich cost me a few min to find out.

Some time later i took apart my PC to check the stuff out etc .
Being confident after that and seeing the huge price gouging on pre-assembled PCs i decided to put together my next pc myself. Cause i was very new to that back then it took me 3 or 4 times longer then neccessary and i again forgot the master slave settings Smile but aslong as u nvr use idiotic amount of force or a hammer to assemble a PC you wont kill any hardware.

LOL? Go and unplug youre 4 pin power cord and turn it 180 degrees and you will see that you can connect it in. Main power cord same thing.C2D has no pins. Pins are on mobo. You can put CPU the wrong way in and you will not feel the difference when closing the bracket. Its not easy as connecting jigsaw.

small correction there are no pins on Socket 775 CPUs (this cause C2D also are on other sockets).
And yes on Socket 775 the pins are on the socket but like said then there stil is the golden triangle and you have ot blind not to see it.
So ur either blind or an idiot if you put the CPu in the wrong way.

And no the 4 pin aux wont fit if u turn it 180 degrees.
If you dont believe me take ur PC apart and check it.
2 of the 4 pins are squares so yeah those will fit if u turn it 180 degrees. But the other 2 pins have a shape wich will only go into the socket 1 way it just wont fit if u turn it 180 degrees.
Just check this pic.
http://www.znak.pl/img/texts/325/4pin.jpg

edit: same applies ot the main 20/24 pin power cord.
various pins are just squares but many of them have the same shape as the 2 ont he 4pin and they just wont fit if u turn it 180 degrees.
This all is called the ATX standard.

about the slow torrent download.
the guy uploading is only 1 and he has normal upload speeds.
but if what i hear is true they are working on getting more seeders with higher speeds.
And EA wont put the demo up for another 22 hours so.

The demo is protected, you need to connect to EA store. It's a waste of time download it.

I know many people that build PCs for a living and most of those are idiots that dont know jack.
So a line like ''i do hardware for a living'' doesnt have much weight with me.
And i dont see how you would be able to fit a 20/24 pin or a 4 pin cable when turned 180 degrees unles you used a hammer.

And when your screw driver slips nothing happens.
The only way to dmg the traces on your board or to knock stuff of is if u use way more force on your screwdriverthen needed.

I have to repeat myself.
All the things u mention can simply be avoided by not being blind, not being an idiot and not using idiotic amounts of force to connect stuff on a PC.

i also know people that managed to dmg their hardware. I know a guy that tried ot get a AGP card into a PCI slot and tapped on the side of the card with a hammer. And this guy has a masters degree and works as a network admin at Vodafone.
But he broke 1 of the key rules of working on a PC: Do not use idiotic amounts of force to connect stuff.

ABout the Crysis Demo.
Im hoping that aropund the time that i got it someone finds a way around the having to connect to EA.
Cause there already have been games that officialy had ot connect to the internet and they sitl worked.

I was going to buy the game, but EA just had to fucking piss me off...

If you say "SP demo on the 26th", it means exactly that, not "oh, we forgot to mention that was only for pre-orders, so next time you'll know what to do, teehee!"

You won't coerce me into pre-ordering your games, assholes. They're just torrents from now on...

I really dont care who you know and if they suck at their work, but in my country if someone doesnt know his job he gets fired, especially when working with hardware that costs great amount of money. There is 1000 things you can do wrong when building PC and youre thinking that anyone who doesnt know how to do it is a moron only shows how stupid you really are. For any task you need XP or some kind of training because its not easy as making jigsaw. If you fail to see that then i pity you. Some guy can say that you are moron because you dont know how to change screen on lcd or change some basic thing on car engine. You should really think before you go and call other people names.

Anyone found any other sweet sniper spots (similar to the one shown on the videos before in this thread) in the crysis mp beta?

The top of the War factory, you can get there with Maximum strength jump. When your almost @ the top you need to jump on the vent and tubes sticking out of the tower.
