I'd have to say from what I have seen of Doom 3, Half Life 2 and Halo 2 that Halo 2 not only holds its own but also looks better than the 2 Pc titles.
For one Halo 2 does enourmous outdoor environments with lots of objects, characters and vehicles that all have complex AI or physics.
Doom 3 only did small indoor environments and Half Life 2 well nothing I have seen from HL2 is even remotly next generation in terms of technology so I wouldn't even compare it.
So to say Halo 2 has nothing on "next gen Pc" games is ridiculous because there has not been 1 Pc Game that can do such large and detailed outdoor environments all while having compelx AI and vehicles with good physics in it like Halo 2 can.

One major advantage of consoles that is rarely talked about is the fact that developers know exactly how to use the hardware to the maximum once the console has been around for a few years. This is why you get games like Halo 2 which look pretty good considering the fact it runs on an xbox.
I think Doom 3 looked better than Halo 2 but that is understandable considering the fact you needed pretty decent hardware to get it looking good. Halo 2 is the best looking game I've seen on the xbox by far.
Regarding the actual gameplay, it's great. I can't wait for an English audio version because I'd like to know what the hell cortana and the marines are saying to me but, apart from that, it's great fun to play and builds upon the original perfectly.

Pc Geeks ( And I'm one of them ! ) always have to try and justify to the world why they spent all that extra money on their pc's. Grow up and try and remember the last time you played a top notch game on console or PC with your REAL mates at home !

Umm pc far better gaming platform? ROTFL...tell me what games are on the pc that totally blow out what we've seen on the xbox? Nothing!!! Buddy get a grip and stop the crying because our little xbox can keep up with current pc tech and xbox is how many years old? Also it seems you dont know jack about the diffrence between developing games on a pc platform compared to an console platform neither..i wont get into details but there is a reason why a little xbox can produce graphics that rival a 2000 dollar pc set up.....go read up on it dweeb.
Its funny how pc zombies get all fired up when someone makes a remark in how some xbox games look as good as any high end pc..minus the high rez of course but seriously..some pc gamers are just so F'n stupid LOL
xbox platform has one set of spec developers have to develope for. Pc dev's have to develop for multi set up's pc's have. Also pc platform is hampered by their OS and other things running that bog it down unlike consoles. This is why a xbox can produce such visuals that rival pc.
Also IDsoftware has said Doom3 on the xbox will have NO VISUALS downgraded besides the RESOLUTION>.other then that its running with HIGH SETTINGS as like what doom3 runs with high settings on PC!!!!!

I didnt write that the pc is a superior gaming platform, I wrote that its a superior platform in terms of GRAPHICS.

The xbox is problary great as a gaming platform, no questions about that, but thats not what this was about. 
And no the xbox version wont look as good as the pc version (Much more things is changed and not just the resolution) because the xbox version doesnt have the hardware to do it. Look at the screens for crying out loud.

one thing that hurts the xbox is its memory. I think it has 64 mb. which isn't nowhere near enough to run doom 3 at full galore without some loss in the texture department.

My Single Player Impressions:
Ok..first off having french voice only in single player really blows as alot of times you dont know what their saying. I hear you can turn english subs on in options some where so everything is subbed but i didnt bother..i only wanted to get a feel for the game and i will restart with english rls when it comes out.
Anyways, the graphics..some of the graphics are down right outstanding later in the chapters and at other times some of the textures seem only slightly better then the first halo1. Its a hit or miss when trying to talk about graphics for Halo2 because as i said some things will make your jaw drop wide open and at other times you dont get that. I think some of it is because of the corridor enviorments you start off in before you actually get to outdoor enviroments,etc and some of it is because we'v already enjoyed the initial explosion of new games using normal mapping,self shadowing lighting,etc with FarCry, Doom2,Riddick,etc but once you move on the graphics start to really take off and suck you into its atmsophere. Believe me, dont judge off the first chapter,etc..play it for a bit so you can see what im saying.
As i said later on you'll be more impressed with the visuals the more you go on..this is what i've noticed. Normal mapped textures, self shadowing lighting,etc are all there and look down right beautiful in some area's. Another thing i noticed is some characters are much more highly detailed then others..but then again, the charcters i wasnt so impressed with were the leaders that were wearing white garments.. Your soldiers and the enemy look down right impressive though..that i will say.
Weapons, man Halo2 has the best weapon feel i've ever felt playing a videogame. The controller rumbles perfectly for each weapon..a very authentic feel to each weapon you use, lots better feeling then the first Halo. Also the sound of the weapons are nasty...these baby make some very convincing sounds when your bust'n your gun...nice nice shit.
Controls are spot on! This was one of Halo1's highly appreciated things about the game, its controls are silky smooth and control very very well for a fps on a gamepad. Damn near perfect...
The level design..is awesome. At first its NOT..simply because you start off just like you did in Halo1 which was sorta weird lol and you fight in the same setting you did when you first played Halo1 but and this is a big BUT..this game visually is a masterpiece once you get further in the game..believe me you'll be impressed. Im not referring to graphics as a whole when im talking here, im referring to "Level design" of the enviorments..this is what is amazing and really sucks you into its world. Very large feeling and feels like a real world as you play..very nice indeed.
Also the game must have a new physic's engine as everything reacts like real world movement, alla farcry,Riddick,Doom3,half life 2 or let me just say Havoc Engine. The physics rock in this game.
Enemy AI is really what suprised me..this is one area i notice improvments in games from the start and Halo2's AI is fucking wicked...the enemy is clever as a human controlled player..wait and see what i mean, trust me you'll appreciate it.
I wont go any further as im still a few hours into the game but im gonna stop soon because the game itself isnt fun whatso ever when playing with French voice..this takes alot away from this game so wait for English rls of Halo2.
Overall im impressed..i cant say much for the story as it was in French voice but from what ive read via some subs..it looks like its no slouch and will be a blast to role play through. Much like the fist halo2...this game is heavely driven by the stellar story and from i can see..it continues halo's top notch story
