not giving up yet
i basicly did towel trick just without towel
i put board wide open
let it cook for 20min worked and hanged
after few hours did same thing with 30min
put a fan i bought at wallmart for 10$ directly on the gpu(not computer fan)
put another computer fan on cpu
and it rocks
been playing for 5 hours staright now.
i have to say board is completly open no case no nothing
xclamps are in place.
artic 5 is in place both cpu/gpu
board has enough space underneath it for air to go in/out
so if this keeps up it means it wont even let the board get into those high tempatures where everything gets out of place.
i dont care how it looks as long as it works:)
anyway just though people should know its possible to get out of those 0020(unknow error)
a good friend of mine works at a polace that does reballing and reflowing of such components and has all the pro tools. When mine got the 0020 he asked if he could take it and have a mess with it i figured it was no good to me so i said sure. Basically what he told me is the solder they used is very brittle and the connections between the board and the gpu had developed cracks. He reballed the GPU for me with lead solder. Since then no freezes no rlod no nothing works perfect no matter how long i play and the drakness which prevoiusly froze every 10 mins doesnt freeze any more.
Sucks that such shitty production lines were used in what was essentially (at the time i bought it) a high end peice of equipment.
where does your friend live:)?
its been working since but today i got some garbaled on screen so not sure if its acting up or its gonna die again soon.
what apiece of junk
and thats after i put a big fan on the gpu(the board is complelty open)
